Chapter 56: Betrayal

Jeff's POV: Jeff was at an event with Rose when he sighted Eric. What the hell was he doing here? he thought. Jeff knew that Eric was aware of his less-than-stellar past, and he didn't want him to tell Rose about it. He was worried that if Rose found out the truth about him, she would no longer trust him. He knew he had to keep his distance from Eric and try to keep him away from Rose. But it was easier said than done. As he looked around the event, he could see Eric making his way towards him. Jeff tried to lead Rose away from where Eric was, but she noticed his efforts and pulled back. "What are you doing?" she asked, her brow furrowed in confusion. "Why are you trying to take me away from there?" "No reason," Jeff said, trying to sound casual. "I just thought we could sit over there instead. It's a bit quieter, and we can talk more easily."
