Chapter 4

As I looked through the scripts that had been sent to my email, I heard a roar come from downstairs. "Get the hell down here, Xavier! How dare you hit my girlfriend!" It was Luca. He and a few of his lackeys were standing downstairs. "Get the fuck out here, Xavier! I won't kill you… probably!" I calmly glanced downstairs as my dormmates came to stand beside me. "Don't be scared, Xav. We'll help you out!" I waved a hand. "It's not necessary. Not for people like him." I headed downstairs as Luca continued shouting. His eyes burned with rage when he saw. "I can't believe you actually had the nerve to show up!" As he charged toward me, I slapped him hard. Then, I looked at him coolly as his lackeys circled me. "Damn it! You're asking for trouble!" I put my hands behind my back, looking unfazed. "You'd better tell them to think things through before doing anything, Luca." My composed attitude flustered him a little. "What do you mean by that? You hit me and my girlfriend, yet you're stopping me from doing anything to you?" I felt a little like laughing at his words. "Since Stacy is your girlfriend, you should know a bit about me, right?" Luca's expression shifted at that. I continued, "I have to say that you value your pride more than your life, Luca, if you're coming after me despite knowing what you know about me." Suddenly, brakes screeched behind me. A black van had pulled up, and seven or eight men got out of it. They were all muscular and toned—it was clear they were trained fighters. There was a reason why I'd been able to snap Luca's arm in my past life. The latter didn't stand a chance against me from beginning to end. It was unfortunate that Stacy had taken my methods to protect her as me stopping her from finding happiness. My men surrounded Luca and his lackeys. It only took a few seconds for Luca to change his tune. "I wasn't aware it was you, Mr. Wright." "Hmm?" "No, that's not what I meant! My mind just short-circuited! I made a mistake!" Luca slapped himself. "I'll apologize to you. I was blind and a fool. Could you let me off the hook for Stacy's sake?" I laughed at his words. "For Stacy's sake? Do you think throwing her weight around here will work with me when I didn't hesitate to slap her?" His expression turned steely at my words. In my past life, I would've beaten him up to stop Stacy from getting hurt. Now, I was no longer interested in doing anything of the sort. It would only make me seem like a bad guy. I'd be the antihero stopping Romeo and Juliet from being together. "I'm sorry, Mr. Wright. I really was blind," he said. I glanced at him and waved a hand casually. "Fuck off, and leave me alone." Then, I turned to leave. At the same time, I waved a hand again to dismiss the men following me. I'd actually only hired these fighters for Stacy's sake. My family had always told me that I had to have the ability to protect the women in my life. When they were in danger, I had to be the one to step forward. That way, I'd be a satisfactory man. I'd always believed in those words; protecting Stacy had become something etched into my bones. I was like a knight who would willingly put his life on the line for the princess' sake. In hindsight, I was nothing but a joke. The ruckus was soon taken care of. It had happened so quickly that the university's administrators didn't even realize something had happened. I returned to my dorm to continue reading the scripts I'd received. That night, when I scrolled through the forum, I saw there was a new post that had been taken out of context.
