Evelyn was in a tough spot with no easy way out. Suddenly, Jasper pressed his hand against the small of her back, pulling her closer. Her lips nearly brushed against his, and her cheeks flushed instantly. Jasper seemed to see right through her, and a cold, mocking smile played at his lips. Evelyn's bravado crumbled under his scrutiny. For all her talk, she realized she was more hesitant than she let on. "You know, gifts that fall into your lap are hard to resist," Jasper said with a smirk. "I just didn't think you'd be into playing this game with more than one person at once." His words stung, and Evelyn pushed him away, feeling disgusted. Jasper, acting as if nothing had happened, reached into the first-aid kit and pulled out a bandage. As he tried to apply it, Evelyn snatched it from his hand and did it herself. Jasper didn't protest and continued packing the kit before returning it to his room without another word. Not wanting to linger any longer, Evelyn headed downstairs
