Chapter 22: A Desire that Burns

There was no sound outside for a long time. I moved my body slowly, trying to push the door open slightly, looking through a gap to see what was happening outside. Suddenly, a bright light shone dazzlingly in front of my face and blinded my eyes, and soon darkness overwhelmed me. I saw a huge wolf head approaching with its mouth wide open, baring its teeth. The grip on my wrist loosened, and I felt a pain my wrist. I brought it to my eyes and saw that it was already bruised. "Liana? What are you doing? Why are you following me?" Edmond's puzzled voice called. Anguish and rage took over me all of a sudden. I raised my head and glared at him angrily. "You lied to me!" "Lied to you? What are you talking about?
