Chapter 141: Should Never Have Come

I was still shell-shocked even as I watched Marie and Crystal leave the mall. Crystal kept glancing around furtively, and I could tell that she was probably looking for us.
I felt a sharp pain in my heart, but I sucked it up, then turned to the man who’d been taking photos of Marie. The urge to get down and stop him was gone, so I just watched him.
Luckily, the man was satisfied with only taking photos. He didn’t make any attempt to follow them, but that was a relief to some extent.
“She has a child…” I whispered, still having my eyes fixed on Marie. She was going farther down the road, conversing with Crystal lively.
“Damian…” Ray began.
“Did you know about this?” I said, turning to Ray. My eyes were burning, and my chest was rising and falling in a combination of hurt and rage.
“I had no idea, Damian! Like you, I’m as clueless as can be,” Ray said tersely. From his voice and expression, I could tell that he was honest enough. “Crystal didn’t mention it.”
