The ride to the mall was silent, save for the occasional hum of the engine and the faint sound of the radio playing softly in the background.
I couldn’t help but feel a growing sense of anticipation, my heart beating a little faster as we got closer to our destination.
When we finally arrived, the mall was bustling with people. Ray tapped his finger against the car window, eyes narrowed as he surveyed the mall across the street. “Driver, park here,” he instructed, his tone as sharp.
The car rolled to a stop on the opposite lane, the bustling mall entrance in clear view. I sat in the backseat, my fists clenched, the tension radiating off Ray infecting me as well.
