I placed the phone face down on the table and breathed softly.
Could you not do it?
I ignored the tiny voice as I reached forward and picked up a copy of the test result.
I had already planned to tell Damian about the situation. Immediately, I heard about the whole divorce thing, and although it was strictly prohibited that I share my patient's details, it just felt right.
I knew how it felt to be denied access to one's child because the parents divorced or separated, and the mother decided to keep the news to herself. My ex-wife had done it to me, and I was one hundred percent certain that that was what Marie intended to do to Damian.
I slowly folded the paper and slid it into the breast pocket of my shirt before standing from the chair.
"I owe him this much," I muttered under my breath as some….personal explanation as to why I was about to do it. And I did owe Damian, although he'd helped me without expecting anything in return.
