Chapter 52 A Night Together II
“Allison.”
His voice was hush; the room went cold at the sound of it. Allison, on the other hand, has learned to be silent when people talk to her. She pretended to be busy with her computer and not willing to talk to anyone.
“How was the night alone?” Mark was rather too tactical with his words to earn a snob; his query made her look up from the computer and narrow her eyes in what seemed to be utter confusion.
Night alone. Was that intentional, or was it a result of necessity? She freed the keyboard of her fingers, which were playing on them in the pretense of being busy.
“Did you miss me?” he said to the window, looking out through it. He has placed guards in the company’s compound because he fears that Ralph’s visit can result in something twice as ugly as attacking a wedding hall and killing its workers, including the priest who was hired for the matrimonial service.
Allison clenched her fist and remained silent as his words ruled the space. He turned to her and edged his way
