Chapter 51 A Night Together
Her eyes opened as the cry of her alarm clock braced her ears. It was rough, like the throaty cry of the cockerels in the countryside. Her hand made for the alarm clock sitting on her table and knocked it off with disgust, but just then, a name popped up in her mind.
Mark!
She sat up in bed and looked around her. The day was already bright, and she could hear the morning noise of New York, which marks the dawn of a new day. She yawned and stretched her arms, pondering her thoughts about Mark’s way.
They had no time to talk to each other last night because they both thought they were too engulfed in sadness to have anything to discuss, so neither she nor Mark called each other.
She rolled out of bed, and just then, a few knocks braced the door of her room. Those knocks were not deep and heavy like those of an adult. They were the knocks of her kids.
She made for the door, but before she could get there, they pushed it open, rippled into her room, and hugged her tight, blessing her
