CHAPTER ONE HUNDRED AND SIXTY – HE REFUSES TO BE CONVINCED
Over the next few days, Laura tried repeatedly to convince Logan and others of the danger Carter posed. But with each passing day, the rival pack's attacks grew more frequent and more violent, leaving little time for anything but immediate survival.
One evening, as Laura was returning from a particularly grueling patrol, she overheard a heated conversation between Logan and Vivienne.
"We can't keep this up, Logan," Vivienne was saying, her voice strained. "We're losing ground, losing pack members. Something has to change."
Logan's response was muffled, but Laura could hear the weariness in his tone. She was about to move on when she heard her own name mentioned.
"And what about Laura?" Vivienne asked. "Her obsession with Carter is becoming a liability. We can't afford distractions right now."
Laura's heart clenched at Logan's response. "I know. I'll talk to her, make her understand that she needs to focus on the immediate threat."
