Chapter 5: He's Jealous

Casper didn't even turn his head. He calmly said, "Folding the wheelchair is troublesome. I don't have much time; I have to go back to the company soon." Beverly chuckled, "Well then, I'll trouble you, my busy future husband." "It's my honor to serve my future wife!" Casper's tone was full of sarcasm. Beverly snorted and turned her head to look out the car window. Casper proudly escorted Beverly to get their marriage certificate. Looking at the name "Casper Butte" on the certificate, Beverly felt a bit complicated. She never imagined that one day, her and Casper's names would appear together on a marriage certificate. Clearly, this person used to never even look at her properly. Clearly, she couldn't stand the sight of Casper. But now, these two antagonistic people were married, in an intimate relationship! Especially when she looked at the photo on the marriage certificate, with two obviously expressionless faces, the more Beverly looked at it, the tighter her brows furrowed. "Mrs. Butte seems to have some opinions about our marriage certificate? What's wrong? Regretting already before it even starts?" A voice, indifferent yet mocking, sounded beside Beverly, startling her for a moment. Then she cleared her throat and said, "I'm not! I was just thinking, how could I end up with you..." Beverly didn't continue, but Casper continued, "End up marrying someone I dislike?" "No, I just feel... we both look kind of awkward smiling together," Beverly hastily explained. "If you're not satisfied, we can retake the photos at the next wedding," Casper said surprisingly. Beverly gave Casper a sideways glance. Indeed, being with this man made her want to argue. When they got off the car, the Cape couple stared wide-eyed at Beverly, who was being carried out by Casper. Casper politely asked where Beverly's bedroom was, then without any pretense, he carried Beverly upstairs and gently placed her on the bed. One had to admit, despite his dislikeable traits, Casper was impeccable in other aspects. At least he had gentlemanly manners and was very polite. Casper then surveyed Beverly's bedroom and asked, "How much time do you need to pack your things?" Beverly didn't react at first. "Pack what?" "Luggage. Since we're married, we'll naturally move to our own house," Casper said. Before Beverly could reply, Casper continued, "Five days? You can pack some important things. I've arranged for everything else." "Do we have to live together?" Beverly asked, looking puzzled. Casper looked at Beverly as if she were an alien. "What kind of marriage is it if husband and wife don't live together? Or are you playing games with me, regretting it?" Beverly choked back her breath and muttered, "I'm not!" "Good. I'll come to pick you up in five days," Casper didn't give Beverly a chance to say anything else before leaving. Beverly sighed heavily. How could she become so weak in front of Casper? So, instead of feeling down, Beverly instantly became determined again. The days ahead were long; she couldn't let Casper dominate her from the start. As Beverly pondered how to deal with Casper in the future, rumors about her and Allen spread wildly that night. Beverly clicked on the link Nicole sent her, and a big headline caught her eye. ["Abandoned Bride from a Wealthy Family Turns Out to Be a Tyrant"] The article detailed the relationship between her, Allen, and Lucy, as well as their troubles. It stated that Beverly and Allen were childhood betrothed, but Allen never wanted to accept this forced engagement and couldn't escape the family pressure. As a result, when Allen met a girl he liked, he couldn't be with her. But even so, that girl still suffered persecution from Beverly due to her closeness to Allen and eventually fell into depression. Helplessly, Allen compromised and married Beverly, but unexpectedly, he couldn't force himself in the end and ran away from the wedding to find his beloved girl. That girl was Lucy. The article even included several happy photos of Allen and Lucy together, and even a photo of them looking at rings. Then the article emphasized that Allen had decided to be with Lucy, but Beverly was still unwilling and kept bothering the couple's happy times. It even mentioned the use of family influence by Beverly's family to make things difficult for Allen and Lucy. Especially Allen's family, the Medici family, was under pressure from the Cape family. The promised investment was withdrawn by the Cape family. The Cape family, in order to force the marriage, didn't even have a sense of contract, making them look pathetic. Comments below started to sympathize with Lucy. ["What era is it now? How can there still be arranged marriages and such dehumanizing things?"] ["It's so pitiful. Such a loving couple was harmed by a tyrant from a big family."] ["I used to pity the woman who was jilted, but now I take it back. She brought it upon herself. There's a reason for everything. Pitiful people often have something to blame."] ["It's really too much. If her man doesn't love her, she goes and harms an innocent girl. Such a person is too much!"] ["Using family influence to bully two weaker people, it's simply too arrogant and domineering."] The more Beverly read, the colder her face became. She could ignore the other accusations, but it clearly mentioned the Cape family's untrustworthiness in withdrawing the investment. Originally, the investment decision for the seaside project by the Medici family was because of her marriage to Allen. In plain terms, this money was part of her dowry from her family. If she married Allen, this project would belong to both of them, so the Cape family naturally wanted to give them the money. Now, with the engagement broken, the investment was naturally impossible. Being put on the internet like this was clearly someone trying to manipulate them, thinking that their family would continue the investment because of rumors. Such childish behavior was something the Medici family wouldn't do. After all, such a family wouldn't openly say they lacked money and needed investment. Beverly sneered and quickly posted a status on social media. ["Married now, he's jealous. Stop spreading rumors!"] Under the status was a clear photo of the marriage certificate. Just moments after posting the photo, Allen took advantage of the servants' distraction and rushed into Beverly's bedroom. "Beverly, what do you mean? I didn't get married to you, where did you get the marriage certificate? Are you forging it?"
