CHAPTER ONE HUNDRED AND EIGHTY-FIVE THE WARRIOR TYPE
DAPHNE'S POV
I found myself drifting into another memory, one that was so ridiculous it always made me laugh no matter how many times I thought about it. It was the first time Javion had tried to teach me how to fight.
Now, I wasn't exactly the warrior type, but he insisted that I needed to know some basic moves for self-defense. The whole thing had been a complete mess from start to finish.
"Alright, Daphne," Javion had said, his tone all serious as he squared up in front of me. "First, you need to get into a fighting stance."
I remember staring at him, completely clueless. "A what now?"
He’d sighed, a small smile tugging at the corners of his mouth. "A fighting stance. You know, like this." He’d spread his legs apart, knees slightly bent, fists up like he was ready to take on a whole army.
I’d tried to mimic him, but ended up looking like I was trying to do some awkward dance move. My feet were too far apart, and I kept wobbling like a newborn deer. Javion had tried so hard n
