CHAPTER ONE HUNDRED AND EIGHTY-FOUR THE TEACHER
DAPHNE'S POV
He’d swum back to shore, dripping wet and looking like a drowned puppy. “Alright, Miss Expert Fisherwoman, your turn. Let’s see you do better.”
Of course, just to prove the universe really had it out for us, I caught a fish within minutes. But instead of reeling it in smoothly like Javion had taught me, I panicked when the fish started thrashing, and somehow managed to fling it over my shoulder and into the bushes behind us.
Javion had doubled over with laughter, shaking his head. “You’re supposed to catch the fish, not launch it into orbit!”
We spent the rest of the afternoon chasing that poor fish through the bushes, laughing so hard we could barely breathe. In the end, we never did catch anything worth keeping, but it didn’t matter. We’d spent the whole day just being ridiculous together, and that was enough.
As I lay in bed now, that memory made me smile all over again. It was one of those perfect, silly days that reminded me why I loved him so much.
