CHAPTER ONE HUNDRED AND FIFTY TWO –WHO IS THE MOLE?
The Fratelli family empire, once seemingly unshakeable, began to show cracks under the relentless pressure of the police investigation. Joan watched with a mixture of fascination and horror as the family she had come to know started to fracture from within.
It started with whispers and sidelong glances at family gatherings. Trust, the foundation of their organization, was eroding rapidly. Joan overheard snippets of conversations, accusations of betrayal and finger-pointing.
One evening, during a tense family dinner at the Fratelli mansion, the tension finally boiled over. Uncle Scipione slammed his fist on the table, making the crystal glasses rattle.
"Someone here is talking to the cops," he growled, his eyes scanning the faces around the table. "And when I find out who it is..."
Alessandro stood up abruptly, his chair scraping loudly against the floor. "Are you accusing someone specific, Uncle? Or just spreading paranoia?"
