Chapter 59: Where's Grandma?
Henry carefully scooped up a spoonful of cooled porridge and brought it to Giselle Lambert’s lips.
She had no need for this insincere attention, yet she had no choice but to accept it with humiliation.
After finishing her meal, Giselle, hindered by the chains at her ankles, attempted to leave. Henry intercepted her, sweeping her up and carrying her to the bathroom.
By the time everything was set right, it was already past three in the morning.
In bed, Henry held Giselle tightly against him, his grip so firm it was as if he was trying to meld her into his very bones, terrified that she might try to flee once more.
After a lengthy hesitation, Giselle finally ventured, “Where has Grandmother gone?”
She feared asking, dreading that Henry might confess to having killed her grandmother in a moment of anger.
She had never believed Henry capable of such cruelty, but after witnessing how ruthlessly he dealt with others, she feared for her grandmother’s fate.
Her voice was barely audible
