Chapter 30 – Relieved

Natalie rushed out of the elevator and headed straight toward Cassidy's room. She couldn't wait to see for herself that her friend was okay. Natalie had been in agony for the last few weeks, awaiting some progress in Cassidy's condition. She dropped everything she was doing and raced over to the hospital. Natalie turned the corner and froze when she saw Jacob sitting outside Cassidy's room with his head in his hands. "Jacob," she whispered as her lip quivered. Please, don't let it be more bad news. She couldn't stomach any more bad news. He lifted his head when he heard his name. He turned and looked at Natalie. She could see the redness around his eyes, and her thoughts turned negative. "What's wrong? What happened? I thought she woke up and everything was fine," she whined as she placed her hand over her heart. Jacob shook his head. "No, no, she's okay.
