Chapter 7
For a moment, no one uttered a word.
Nelson's chilly breeze filled the air.
He gazed into Rita's eyes, searching for the truth.
Rita was a little flustered by his gaze, but she still looked indifferent.
The two of them were in a stalemate for a long time until, suddenly, Nelson pulled her into a deep kiss.
It always hurt when he kissed her.
As the kiss ended, Nelson's deep voice whispered in her ear, "You're lying."
Rita sneered. "Do you know how deep the river is and how cold it is? It's not easy for me to save my life, let alone an unborn baby."
"Mr. Wallis," she looked at him, her eyes bloodshot and full of rage. "Am I really the liar?
Or you're lying to yourself?"
What right did he have to question her?
Three years ago, she had been badly hurt. Now, he was pretending that nothing had happened?
Nelson met her gaze, and his heart ached.
He raised his hand to cover her eyes, but Rita turned away, avoiding his touch.
Nelson's hand froze in the air, and the atmosphere in the car became frigid.
"When they took the child out of my body, I took a look."
Rita's lips curled into a cold smile. "It's a boy, very similar to you," she said, her voice dripping with venom. "But as you wished, the child has been dealt with. You should be satisfied, right?"
She smiled, but her eyes were bloodshot, and full of tears.
After a moment of silence, Nelson moved her away from him and put her on the Nelsont next to him.
The narrow back-row space was once again filled with suffocating coldness.
In such an environment, the sound of the lighter being lit was magnified several times.
Rita's nose wrinkled at the smell of smoke, but she didn't say anything as she was in someone else's car.
She composed herself and straightened her clothes.
Nelson took a long drag of his cigarette before turning to face her. "Are you happy after provoking me?" he asked.
Rita paused for a moment, then collected herself and did not answer his question. She just said, "Give me the documents and delete the back-up."
She was talking about the documents Ken showed her just now.
She really didn't expect Nelson to be so powerful. In such a short time, he had managed to have something on Abbott.
"Are you worried about him?" Nelson asked in a dangerous tone after a long silence.
Rita didn't say anything, but obviously, her silence showed her answer.
Nelson's face became more and more gloomy. "Go divorce him."
With that, he raised his hand to turn her face and forced her to look at him. "Don't go trying to push my buttons all the time. If you keep it up and really make me mad, you're the one who's going to pay the price."
Rita, "..."
This man was threatening her?!
Rita suppressed her anger and shook his hand off.
This action caused Nelson's expression to turn colder.
He gave her a fierce look with his icy eyes, as if he could devour her whole.
Rita was no match for his overpowering aura and could only avert her gaze to maintain her dignity.
"Didn't you read the news?" Nelson asked slowly.
News?
Rita suddenly remembered that Abbott had asked her to read it while they were on the phone.
What on earth happened?
She was eager to Nelsonrch with her phone, but the phone was left on her car.
Nelson held out his cell phone to her.
Instinctively, she didn't want to touch it, but the situation was urgent, so she reluctantly took it from him. She opened social media and discovered that it was all about her.
#The missing Rita of the Wallis family has reappeared after three years#
#BIG SHOCK The world-famous wedding dress designer is HER#
#The Lady Rita of the Wallis family is back. What should the Wallis' do with Laurel Bach, the new fiancee?#
Over the years, because of her disappearance, there had been a great uproar in the country. She had heard about it abroad, and knew that when she went to the stage last night, it would definitely cause a great disturbance. She had been prepared for it.
This time, she went back to New Clamport for her grandmother. Since she wanted to settle down here, she didn't have to be afraid of the news.
It was just that...
The words "Laurel, fiancee" stung her eyes.
The phone buzzed. It was a call from Laurel.
Before she could react, her phone was snatched away by Nelson.
He did not answer, but chose to hang up.
Rita looked at him and asked, "Why did you hang up?"
Laurel should be the most unacceptable person on her return.
Nelson didn't answer. He just said, "Are you clear now?"
Funny, he was hoping that she would be scared out of her wits when she saw these trendings, and became the obedient Rita Esther again?
What was he dreaming about?
"I've got so much going on these years, and I don't give a shit."
She was Victoria, the most alluring and enigmatic designer in the wedding industry. Every year, she became the subject of countless rumors, both good and bad, but she had got used to it.
Seeing that Rita was unperturbed, Nelson added, "What if, I accuse you of illegally living with Abbott while still being married to me?"
Rita furrowed her brow. "What do you mean?"
Still being married to him?
"We had divorced." Rita emphasized.
Nelson retorted, "It's just a divorce agreement. Did you see me sign it with your own eyes?"
Rita, "..."
Nelson noticed the look on her face and a trace of satisfaction flickered in his eyes.
Fight with me?
You don't stand a chance.
As Nelson was lost in thought, Rita suddenly spoke up, "So our marriage is still valid, right? Then what about the engagement between you and Laurel? If I take her to court, how long do you think she'll be in jail?"
The pride in Nelson's eyes froze.
Rita looked at him with a sly grin. "Oh, I almost forgot. You're just engaged. I suppose you two haven't got your marriage license now?"
"But it doesn't matter. If the news that Miss Bach became a mistress gets out, she will be attacked by haters and you and your company's reputation will be damaged, don't you think?"
"And I wonder, how much will that cost you, the billionaire Mr. Wallis?"
