Chapter 6
After dropping Rita off at Biltmore Estate, Abbott left, leaving her alone in the vast villa. She couldn't sleep all night.
The next morning, she woke up feeling low-spirited. She grabbed a bite to eat and headed out, only to be met with rain pouring outside.
She started the car, and the rain drops streaked the windows.
Just then, her phone buzzed. It was Abbott. "Have you seen the news?" he asked.
"No," Rita replied, "What happened?"
"Quick, check it out," Abbott urged, but before he could finish, Rita was forced to brake hard.
A harsh sound broke through the rain, and then there was a loud crash. Her car collided with the one in front of her.
Fortunately, she drove slowly and didn't get hurt, but her phone was thrown out of her hand due to the impact.
Abbott heard the noise on the other end and grew worried. "Rita, are you alright? What happened?"
Rita took a moment to compose herself before answering.
What was going on with the car in front? Why didn't it give the signal to stop the car? It was on the road, and there was no traffic light in front of it. What's going on with that sudden halt?
Furious and ready to argue, Rita opened her car door but was taken aback when she saw the driver of the other car, a familiar face.
Ken walked to her window, bowed respectfully, knocked on the window, and motioned for her to down the window to talk.
Rita was dumbfounded.
That was ridiculous.
The other person was clearly there to stop her from leaving, so she rolled down the car window instead.
Ken spoke up, "Lady Rita, Mr. Wallis wants to talk to you."
Rita sneered, "We're divorced. Please don't call me Lady Rita."
Ken was speechless.
He then changed the subject and said, "Please go there."
Well, this was a typical Nelson-Dark-style command.
She refused, "I won't go."
Ken then handed her a tablet. "Lady Rita, I suggest you look at it before deciding. You don't want to miss this."
Rita's expression changed after seeing the tablet.
After a while, she said, "Get out of the way. I'll open the door."
She got out of the car and entered Nelson's car in anger.
The car slipped away. Her car was left behind along with her phone.
In the narrow space of the car, Rita only felt that it was difficult to breathe.
Nelson did not speak, which made the silence even more awkward. Rita tried to break the silence, "What do you want?"
Before she could finish her sentence, he grabbed her arm, and she felt dizzy. The next moment, she was sitting on Nelson's lap. He held her chin tightly and with so much force that it felt like he could twist it off.
"Nelson Wallis!" Rita could not bear it anymore.
But as she tried to protest, his lips muted her voice.
The overbearing kiss was like two beasts fighting, biting and tasting each other's blood.
Rita tried her best to push him away.
Without giving him any time to react, she slapped him.
Nelson's face was slapped to the side. He didn't expect this, obviously.
There was a fierce look in his eyes. The next second, he kissed her even more fiercely.
Rita was exasperated.
However, she had exhausted all her strength when she struggled once. The second time, Nelson was on guard, so she had no way to resist.
She closed her eyes in pain, hiding all her emotions.
Just when Nelson thought that she had finally learned to be a good girl, she hit his head with her forehead. Both of them groaned in pain.
She wanted to cry, but she held back her tears.
Nelson frowned when he saw tears in her eyes. His eyes darkened.
She rejected me just like that?
She would rather get hurt than kiss him?
He lowered his eyes and no longer forced a kiss. He just held her in his arms and buried his head in her neck. After a while, he asked, "Where is the child?"
Rita's body tensed up as soon as he asked about the child.
She stunned for a while, and finally her lips parted, "Dead."
