Chapter 14

Steel waited in the day if he was going to hear anything from Emilia but he didn't Emilia got home and told the reverend that she found the devil. "The blood sucking devil lives among us father, he has shown himself to me." She cried as she explained to the father. The Reverend called a meeting between other fathers and exorcist in the community. They approach Steels house and surrounded it in the day then started chanting and praying. Steel was heartbroken. He sat on a chair in his house as he heard them chant things for casting demon. They brought holy water, the crucifix and other materials for exorcism and kept chanting for hours. Later they proceeded to break down his door and approached him, sprinkling holy water and chanting. Steel felt the burn of the holy water on his skin but that was nothing compared to what he felt in his heart especially when he raised his head and saw Emilia standing outside his house with the other religious clerk. He thought he actually found true and pure love in someone so simple. He was disappointed in himself for thinking he could easily be accepted. Why would he be accepted anyway, he feeds on this people, now he is trying to have a life with his food? Ridiculous! He laughed out hysterically at his stupidity as the holy water burned his skin and at the exorcists because they thought they had a strong effect on him, which made them apply more pressure in chanting and praying. Steel was so heartbroken that he was willing to give himself up so the humans so they can do whatever they please with him. He had no plans of raising a finger to hurt them because he was hurt enough. The priests and exorcist had no idea that there were more like him who inhabited. As a matter of fact, that area was Steel's community. It was dominated by werewolves and vampires only. The humans didn't know that they walked into a trap. They made so much noise with their chanting and praying which caught the attention of the monsters. They raced to Steel's house immediately and It was a blood bath. The werewolves came in and tore the priest and exorcists to pieces bone to bone. None of them was left out except Amelia. Steel ordered that no one should touch Amelia. He was weak due to the holy water that was sprinkled all over his body. He staggered towards Amelia with sores all over his body. "I'm sorry, I don't deserve you." He said. He announced that she will not be touched, then she ran off. Emilia ran home sore and depressed. She cried her eyes out and informed everyone in the community of what had happened. So the all prepared weapons. Emilia led them there again and their fate was worse than the latter. They had no idea of what they were battling against. The set fire around their town, and burnt down a lot of houses and business. But unluckily for them they went to fight at night when the vampires were awake too. The city bled that night and steel ordered that they migrated from Spain before the news gets out. Emilia could not live with what she had brought upon her community so she took her life own life with opium. Steel was down for a long time after he heard of her demise. Since then he stayed far away from human and avoided being too close to them except it's for business purposes, of which he goes straight to the point when it is business and he doesn't really show his true self too. He has people that makes sure that his business runs smoothly. He is amused at violet attitude towards him. The first time he met her, he immediately told her who he is and he actually expected her to try to rat him out to the police. But he watched her and wondered why she kept his secret. So many things about Violet amazed him like how she flirted with an obvious monster, It's like she isn't scared of death or danger like other humans he has met in his lifetime. She even gave him a passionate hug when she saw him. He smiled as he thought about all these. I t actually felt good to be hugged by a human again with them knowing who you really her. The simple warmth of violet's hug made him feel accepter and Vulnerable. He didn't know how to react to the hug and that was why he pushed her away. It felt like Emilia all over again when he showed her who he really was and she hugged him. For a second there he thought it was real even though a part of him knew that she was going to expose him and it will all end in tears. The few second of acceptance gave him hope. This was what he felt all over again. Of course he is divine in flesh but what will happen when Violet sees him in all his true form and monstrosity. He knew that Tabitha had some truth in what she said but he hated that it was coming from her. He wouldn't lie to himself that he has feelings for Violet. The first time he noticed her was a few years back. She was at the park with Lucca and he noticed how close they were and watched her for a minute. At first he thought they were lovers but he could tell that Lucca was gay. He thought of ways to approach her and the first thing that came to his mind was to tell her that her boyfriend was gay. That would make her sad and she would need a shoulder to cry on. He thought. After stalking her for longer he realized that they were just close friends. This made him relief because he was attracted to her immediately he saw her. The way she smiled, her hair, her skin and her eyes. It seemed so peaceful and beautiful. Of course he stalked her for a while from a mile away whenever he is bored and he found her interesting. He also found out that she was dating someone was draining her spirit at that moment but he couldn't do anything about it. All he did was watch and hoped that she was able to leave that situation before it breaks her finally. The relationship broke her really bad. Her boyfriend was a complete scum but Violet was so naive at that period she seemed like someone that was looking for acceptance just like him and this made him understand her more. She was depressed after the break but Ryan didn't let her heal in peace. He kept coming back to her life to beg and hurt her again. He took advantage of her naive nature to cheat, maltreat, abuse her emotionally. The last time Ryan hurt her was when Steel interfered at that point steel couldn't take it anymore so he paid him a visit but not in form of his flesh. He ordered Ryan to apologize to everyone that is hurting because of him and change his ways at first Ryan thought he was dreaming when he came to this room and a creature was standing at the corner of his room that said "Hello Ryan!" Ryan passed out at the sight of this but that didn't stop steel from getting his message to him. Steel woke him up and ordered him to apologize to the people he hurt immediately or he will be seeing more of him. Ryan cried like a baby throughout their meeting session because not only did he see a wolf looking monster, but he also spoke to him. Steel disappeared with the wind after passing his message on. Ryan immediately to Violet's house at that instance. He didn't even know why Violet's house was the first place he ran to until he saw how bad she was hurting. He fell on his knees and begged her crying and wailing. Violet cried with him not knowing what he was really going through. He slept in her house for the night and many other nights after. Violet was confused at his neediness. He kept ranting about him changing his ways. Violet wasn't the only one he apologized to but she was the first. She got tired of Ryan after he stayed in her house for a month without going home because he seemed scared of something he refused to talk about. Violet had to breakup with him to get space. This was the clarity she needed to know that she didn't really need Ryan and he was too much of a baggage for her. Ryan moves out of his apartment after violet broke up with him. He just knew that he wouldn't go back there. Steel has been watching violets back all these while but he couldn't approach her. This is what it was easy for him to save when she was attacked on her way back from work. Steel has watched her so well that he knows her daily routine. Steel did feel connected to violet and he had feelings for her but he'll be damned if anyone there breaks him like the last one did so he'd rather keep his distance for their mutual and communal safety. Also his people will start to see if as weak if he falls for another human but why does he find himself going to her place when he has a bad day? Or when he is just bored or in his feelings. Is it just to pass some information or is he getting truly fond of her? He thought in confusion. Steel got mad at just thinking about what had happened and what will happen when Violet sees his true form. This is why he would avoid that. He might have to kill her when she sees him like that because she'd definitely expose him just like Emilia did. Humans are so fragile and weak he thought.
