Chapter 5 Slander
What did Melody mean?
Anna clutched her purse tightly in shock.
Mary quickly said, "Mom, Sally's life is too stubborn! But don't worry, Anders is completely on my side now. After everything that's happened, Anders utterly hates that woman!"
"That's good," Melody sighed in relief, "I've been worried that your true identity might be exposed... If Anna finds out that Sally is her biological daughter, she won't spare you."
Anna was completely stunned!
She couldn't believe her ears!
According to Melody, does that mean Sally is her real daughter? No wonder she always felt a special affection towards Sally...
Anna's eyes filled with tears.
In her emotional state, she instinctively pushed the door slightly.
The noise at the door quickly silenced the conversation inside the ward!
"Who's there?" Melody shouted sharply.
Anna froze, accidentally meeting Melody's gaze!
Mary panicked upon seeing Anna!
Before Melody could react, Mary rushed out of bed!
Anna, scared, turned to run!
Mary's eyes turned red with rage!
Anna must have heard everything they said. She couldn't let Anna leave, or all the years of scheming would be wasted!
Mary quickly chased Anna and, seeing her heading for the stairs, gave her a hard shove!
"Ah..." Anna, caught off guard, fell heavily down the stairs!
Seeing Anna hit her head on the corner of the wall, Mary smiled maliciously.
The advantage of the VIP ward was that it had fewer people around.
Mary carefully looked around—good, no one was there.
At that moment, Melody also came running out.
Seeing Anna lying motionless at the bottom of the stairs with blood seeping from her head, she winced, "What should we do? Is she dead?"
Mary whispered, "Mom, she fell from such a height. Even if she doesn't die, she'll be a vegetable. But... we can use this to get rid of the people we hate!"
Melody's eyes lit up, "What do you mean?"
Mary said, "You hide somewhere first. Then we'll figure out a way to lure Sally here."
Mary whispered a few more words to Melody.
Melody quickly left.
Mary composed herself, took a deep breath, looked at the unconscious Anna one last time, and left the scene quickly.
Even though Anna had been her mother for so many years, Mary still felt a pang of guilt for pushing her down the stairs.
However, that guilt quickly vanished.
What is family compared to inheritance?
Meanwhile, Sally was sitting by Andy's bedside.
She thought Andy was beyond saving, but then the hospital informed her that they had found a match for Andy's stem cells.
However, she needed to pay a large sum of money for the treatment.
Since Anders refused to help her, she had to find another way.
Just as she was worrying, her phone rang.
"Sally," Melody's voice came through, "I heard Andy is hospitalized. Is that true?"
Sally's eyes reddened immediately, "Yes."
She had thought of borrowing money from Melody before, but Melody had said she had no money.
Sally had no choice but to accept it since Melody was her mother, and she couldn't morally force her.
Unexpectedly, Melody said, "I've borrowed enough money from relatives for Andy's treatment."
Sally was overjoyed, "Really? Mom, are you serious?"
Melody had always been indifferent to her. Though Sally was independent from a young age, she still longed for her mother's love.
Melody's voice remained gentle, "Yes... but I heard Mary is also in the hospital. You need to visit her first, and then I'll give you the money."
Hearing Melody mention Mary, Sally felt unhappy.
Melody had always treated Mary well. Although Sally was her biological daughter, Melody was always cold towards her.
But now, Sally was overwhelmed by the promise of money for Andy's treatment. She couldn't care about anything else. As long as she could treat Andy, any personal grievances didn't matter.
Sally hurried to Mary's ward.
...
When Sally arrived at Mary's ward, she was surprised not to see Mary there.
"That woman is always running around..." Sally muttered and walked out.
She intended to retrace her steps but then decided to take a different path.
As she approached the other side of the stairs, she saw a person lying in a pool of blood!
Recognizing the person as Anna, a well-known painter and Mary's mother, Sally was shocked.
She didn't like Mary, but she admired Anna's art.
Seeing Anna unconscious, Sally rushed downstairs.
"Ms. Anna, Ms. Anna!" Sally shouted frantically, "What's wrong? Are you okay?"
Just as Sally knelt beside Anna, a sharp voice rang out from the stairs, "Oh my God! Sally, what have you done? What have you done?"
Sally looked up in shock.
Melody stood there, covering her mouth in shock. Before Sally could explain, Melody started screaming, "Oh my God! Sally, what did you do to Ms. Anna? Why is she bleeding?"
Sally immediately defended herself, "Mom! I didn't! I didn't do anything!"
Ignoring her, Melody screamed, "Help! There's a murderer here!"
Sally's eyes widened.
Why...
Why was her mother slandering her without any proof?
Soon, the sound of urgent footsteps filled the hallway!
A crowd of people gathered.
Mary stood at the front, and upon seeing Sally and Anna on the ground, she began her act, "Oh my God! Mom, what happened?"
Mary ran down the stairs, pushing Sally aside.
"What did you do to my mom? What did you do?" Mary cradled the unconscious Anna, accusing Sally, "Even if you hate me, you can't do this to my mom!"
"I didn't..." Sally was at a loss for words.
The crowd grew larger, and soon a furious and panicked voice rang out, "Anna? What's wrong?"
Sally looked up to see George, Anna's husband!
George and Anna were known for their deep affection for each other. Seeing Anna injured, George felt like his world was collapsing.
Mary cried at the right moment, "Dad... Mom is hurt... Sally tried to kill her..."
George rushed down and slapped Sally hard!
The sharp slap left everyone in shock.
Sally looked at the man in disbelief.
"You're so malicious, daring to be so cruel at such a young age!" George's eyes were red. He checked Anna's breath and then picked her up.
"Move! Everyone move!" George shouted as he ran towards the emergency room with Anna.
