Chapter 6 Divorce Papers

Sally felt overwhelmed by the different looks people were giving her. She looked at Melody standing in the crowd. Oh, Anders was there too. He stood among the crowd, staring at her coldly. Melody glanced at Mary, then said with a pained expression, "Sally, how could you be so foolish? Even if you don't like Mary, you shouldn't harm her mother!" Sally's eyes widened in disbelief! How... how could this be? Sally immediately shouted in protest, "Mom, are you crazy? I didn't harm Ms. Anna! I didn't do anything!" "Sister, stop lying," Mary cried, "I know you never liked me. If you have any issues, you can take them out on me! Why did you have to hurt my mother, why?" Mary's accusations successfully stirred up murmurs among the crowd. "My God!" a richly dressed woman exclaimed, "How could someone be so malicious? To commit murder in broad daylight!" A man added, "Exactly... this girl looks so young, who would have thought she could be so wicked..." Sally covered her ears, shouting, "I didn't!" She looked at Melody in the crowd, "Mom, explain to them! I didn't do anything, I didn't do anything!" Melody sighed deeply, "Sally, you should admit it... Even though I'm your mother, I can't cover for you. This is a matter of life and death!" Sally felt like she couldn't breathe. She couldn't believe her mother was teaming up with outsiders to slander her! "Why!" Sally cried in despair, "You called me to visit Mary... I did nothing, why are you helping Mary frame me?" Melody looked sorrowful, "I did ask you to visit Mary, hoping to mend your relationship... but I never expected you to harm her mother!" Hearing Melody's words, everyone quickly became convinced that Sally was the culprit behind Anna's injury! Mary tearfully addressed the crowd, "Anders, I'm so scared... I never thought my sister would hate me this much, boo hoo hoo..." Anders stepped out of the crowd and walked to Mary's side. As he passed Sally, he glanced at her with cold eyes. Sally felt her heart shatter. Anders helped Mary up from the floor and then said with thin lips, "I'll make sure you're sent to prison. You can spend the rest of your life repenting in jail." He said this to Sally. Sally screamed, "No—" But no matter how much Sally resisted, half an hour later, a few police officers arrived at the hospital and took her away. Sally glared at Mary with hatred, gritting her teeth, "I'll never forgive you! Never!" Mary, pretending to be scared, hid in Anders' arms, but she couldn't help but smile. That wretched Sally was in jail now, and she'd likely spend the rest of her life there. Ah, what a relief! Sally was dragged to jail, filled with resentment and pain. For a whole week, the only people she saw were those who brought her food. The dim lighting in the cell made her rely on the small window above to judge whether it was day or night outside. Just when she was about to break down, someone finally came to visit her. As she expected, it was the face she hated most. Mary, dressed immaculately, stood in stark contrast to the disheveled Sally. "How does it feel to be in jail?" Mary asked gleefully. Sally closed her eyes, ignoring her. Mary was enraged by Sally's reaction. How dare this woman ignore her! With a swish, Mary flung a piece of paper at Sally's face. Sally slowly opened her eyes. Seeing the words "Divorce Agreement" on the paper, Sally's eyes widened. "You're in such a state, isn't it time to let Anders go?" Mary looked down at Sally, "You've held the position of his wife for so long, isn't it time to step aside?" Sally sneered and tossed the paper aside. "Mary, you're truly despicable." Sally mocked, "What? You're so eager to marry Anders that you came to the jail to find me?" "Do you really think Anders wants to be with you?" Mary sneered, "Be smart and sign the divorce papers!" Sally glanced at the paper on the floor. After a long pause, she looked up, "When Anders married me, he said he'd never divorce me... Even if it was to torment me, he wouldn't leave me, right?" Mary finally lost her temper, "Are you so shameless? He doesn't want to be with you, and you still want to cling to him?" Sally smiled provocatively, "Mary, as long as I don't sign, I'm Anders' legitimate wife, and you'll always be a mistress hiding in the shadows." Sally saw the fury on Mary's face. "Bitch." Mary cursed under her breath, then smiled, "Sally, you must be short of money now, right?" Sally snorted, ignoring her. Mary said meaningfully, "I have a way for you to make money... you'll thank me for it." With that, Mary whispered to the guards outside the cell. Soon, they dragged Sally out. "What are you doing? What are you doing?" Sally panicked. Mary, annoyed by her noise, struck her hard on the back of the neck, causing Sally to faint. ... Sally's head throbbed. After a while, she finally opened her heavy eyelids. To her shock, she found herself in a luxurious hotel room! She was stunned. How... how did she get here? At the same time, the sound of water from the bathroom stopped. Before she could react, a fat man in a bathrobe walked out. Seeing Sally awake, he smiled lecherously. "You're awake, good... good..." The man said with ill intent, "Tonight, keep me company and make me happy. You'll get as much money as you want..." With that, he lunged at Sally! "Ah! Get away! Get away!" Sally screamed, trying to push the man off, but she was no match for his strength.
