Alec’s point of view.
I found myself sitting at my desk close to 5 p.m. I had already informed Alana that I'd be heading home late tonight due to an out-of-office hour meeting. My gaze fixed on the cold brew Killian had brought me despite my earlier claims that I didn't need another coffee today. The more I stared at it, the more I realised I might just require that extra caffeine boost.
As I contemplated surrendering to the temptation of the cold brew, I noticed a subtle smirk on Killian's face. It was clear he was enjoying my internal struggle. I let out a resigned sigh and yielded, reaching for the cup and raising it to my lips.
"I knew it!" Killian grinned and pushed his laptop aside.
"Shut up, or I'll have to consider decreasing your salary if you gloat too much," I playfully threatened, though we both knew I wouldn't follow through on it.
