chapter 58
Alana’s point of view.
After wrapping up my impromptu therapy session with my mother, I was back to the grind at work, tasked with scheduling new meetings and managing the increasing workload on my own since I had yet to find a suitable assistant. I had planned to interview a few candidates during the second half of my day. My heels clicked on the office floor as I made my way to the printer, tapping my foot impatiently as I waited for the freshly printed papers, essential for the meetings later.
A soft knock on my office door interrupted my wait, and I turned to find my father standing there, holding a familiar purple bag.
"Hello, Alana."
"Hello, Dad. What have you got there?" I asked, my curiosity piqued by the bakery's distinctive bag.
"Your mom said you sounded like you needed a pick-me-up," he explained, a hint of mischievousness in his eyes. It was clear he had only recently been informed about my bakery discovery.
