Chapter 29
As I stood under the scorching sun, I realized that I might not make it.
I counted the number of people in line ahead of me. There were over ten of them.
At an average of three minutes per customer, it'd take at least another hour before it was my turn. By then, I'd fail to get the coffee, and I might even pass out right here.
An idea struck me. I tapped on the shoulder of the person in front of me and said, "Excuse me, miss. I'll give you 15 dollars if I can cut in line. You can essentially get your coffee for free, and it'll just be one person cutting in line."
She readily agreed. I continued this tactic and paid my way up the queue until I reached the front and finally got the coffee.
It had cost me over 100 dollars in total. Still, it was a worthwhile expense compared to the potential hospital bills and salary deductions if I'd passed out.
After I explained that to Ophelia, she fell silent. She hadn't expected me to find a way around her plan and get her demanded coffee.
