Chapter 11 He Couldn't Hold Back
The white dress set off Emily's slender and graceful figure.
Especially with her fair collarbones exposed, it added a subtle allure.
The dress was of medium length, reaching just to her knees, showcasing her straight calves below.
Her hair was casually pinned up, lazy yet natural, framing a small face that was delicate and beautiful, except for a large red burn scar.
Avoiding Emily’s gaze, Ethan unexpectedly felt a hint of heat.
He had always been restrained, but facing this woman, he found it hard to maintain that restraint.
"Mr. Thomas, shall we depart?" Seeing him remain silent, Emily nervously tucked her hair behind her ear and asked.
Ethan regained his composure and said in a deep voice, "Push me out. Byron is waiting outside."
Emily nodded, "Alright, Mr. Thomas."
Frowning slightly, Ethan reminded her, "You can change how you address me now."
Pushing him forward, Emily replied, "Yes, Etty."
She said it seriously, without the coyness from last night, which actually made Ethan feel somewhat uncomfortable.
*****
Half an hour later, the car arrived at the Thomas Mansion.
Byron helped Ethan out of the car, and following the servant's guidance, Emily pushed him towards the hall.
Entering the living room, an elderly man with white hair was sitting on a wooden sofa. When he saw them enter, he rose with the support of a cane.
"Ethan, you have to explain this matter to me." The old man raised his chin, his mouth curled in displeasure.
Emily recognized him. He was Ethan's father, the head of the Thomas family, Aldrich.
Ethan's face darkened slightly, but he just coldly addressed him, "Father."
Aldrich angrily pointed at them, "Do you still consider me your father? I arranged for you to marry Miss Hines, but you ended up marrying a female ex-convict! Are you trying to infuriate me? Do you want everyone to laugh at you?"
Ethan's thin lips twitched and was about to speak when a tender and beautiful voice interrupted him, "Mr. Aldrich, hello. Let me introduce myself. I am Etty's newlywed wife. We just got our marriage certificate yesterday. My name is Emily Parker."
Aldrich's expression grew even more furious. Exhausted, he sat back down, disdainfully saying, "Emily, I know your name. I've had people investigate you, Your background is not worthy of Etty. Today, you two will divorce! You cannot ruin his life!"
Emily showed no signs of fear, instead straightforwardly asking, "In what way do you think I am not suitable for Etty? If you think he needs a match in family background, then I have nothing to say. But the Hines family is far inferior to the Thomas family, right? Since you are quite satisfied with Miss Harper, you should not mind family background. Although I have been in prison, as you should have found out, I was wrongly accused. So I am not an ex-convict. Etty and I admire each other, and we married voluntarily. Besides, Etty was stood up by Miss Hine. Do you still think that she is a good option for Etty? If Miss Hines hadn't stood him up, I wouldn't have had a chance to meet Etty."
Ethan thought that his father's outburst would make Emily retreat, but he didn't expect this young woman to be so bold and even dare to confront his father head-on.
It seemed like he hadn't chosen the wrong person after all.
Aldrich listened, his eyes widened in anger, distorting his features. "You little girl, what nonsense are you talking? How could Miss Hines stand him up?"
"Grandfather!" At this moment, a young man's voice came from the door, carrying a hint of politeness and slickness.
Immediately after, a man strode toward Aldrich, opening his arms to hug him. Excitedly, he said, "Grandfather, I've brought you a gift."
The man was dressed in a pink suit, his hair shiny with gel, and though not old, he exuded a slickness.
He turned his head towards Ethan and smiled, "Uncle Ethan, long time no see."
Emily finally got a clear look at his face. This person was none other than Bob.
Bob's features were fairly handsome, somewhat resembling Ethan's, but he was far from matching Ethan's charisma.
Moreover, his aura gave off the impression of a playboy who didn't take life seriously, unlike Ethan who appeared reliable and charming.
While she was scrutinizing Bob, he also turned his gaze towards her face. Bob licked his lips and greeted in a slick manner, "Is this Uncle Ethan's new bride, Ms. Emily Parker?"
Ethan gave him a cold glance, "You should call her Aunt Emily."
Bob laughed heartily, retorting, "Ms. Parker is not acknowledged by Grandfather yet. Wouldn't it be too quick to call her Aunt Emily?"
Emily raised an eyebrow in secret. Bob clearly didn't respect Ethan. Otherwise, he wouldn't have this attitude.
Suddenly, she felt sorry for Ethan.
Not only was he disabled, but it seemed he wasn't favored by Aldrich, his father. His father wanted to control his marriage and he was even humiliated behind his back by his nephew.
Emily felt that she and Ethan were truly birds of a feather.
They were both neglected by their parents, bullied by others, robbed of spouses and fiancés, and framed and imprisoned after a car accident.
Emily sympathized inexplicably with him. She wanted to protect him.
"Are you Mr. Bob? In your eyes, isn't Miss Harper the one who should be Ethan’s wife?" Emily lightly curved her lips.
Seeing this, Bob thought, ‘This ugly woman is indeed asking for trouble. I want to see Grandfather reprimand Ethan because of Harper.’
He immediately said, "That's right, Harper is Grandfather's chosen wife for Uncle Ethan. How can a convict like you be my Aunt?"
Ethan shot him a fierce look and said coldly, "Bob, is it your place to interfere in my affairs?"
Bob shut up immediately but inwardly sneered at Ethan, trying to hold back a laugh on his face, looking forward to seeing how things would unfold.
"Bob is right. How can you be so confused about this matter?" Aldrich pointed at Ethan, feeling frustrated, "Even if Ms. Emily is innocent, she has indeed been in prison. I absolutely cannot allow such a woman into our family."
Emily chuckled lightly, her words sharp and quick, "Mr. Aldrich, are you helping your grandson or your son? Why must you stuff your son’s woman to your grandson?"
Aldrich was baffled, his brows furrowing tightly, his anger evident, "You little brat, what are you talking about?"
Bob's face changed slightly, trying to interrupt, "That's right, that's right. They say Emily from the Parker family is crazy, and it seems to be true, you are a truly crazy woman."
Emily burst into laughter, clutching her stomach, "Mr. Bob, you still don't know? Miss Harper and I are quite close. We happened to go shopping together yesterday."
"What did you say? You know each other?" Bob's face turned pale.
