6 Masked men
“Lucy!” Susan scolded, her eyes narrowing at her.
Ava opened to speak but she closed it again. She was being chased by some masked men? Not just ordinary men but men that used to fight Liam. Was this really true? Ava was curious and wanted to know more.
“Excuse us.” Susan stood up from the chair and walked towards her daughter. She pulled Lucy towards the door and they left the room.
Ava leaned her back against the chair with her mouth opened a little bit. She was surprised and confused with the Startling information. She wanted to know more but didn’t know whom she would ask.
She decided to wait for them before starting to eat. She brought out her phone to call her Aunt but the number was busy.
Sighing to herself, Ava took another sip of the tea as she waited for them. She continued to wait for about twenty minutes and when it was thirty minutes, she stood up from the chair.
She walked outside the dining and scanned the place to see that Susan and her daughter was nowhere around. She went back inside to pick her bag as she thought Lucy would be in her room. She walked upstairs towards Lucy room with her eyes scanning the portraits hung on the wall.
Just as she was walking, she caught sight of a door which hid plain blending in the white coloured wall.
She tilted her head and looked around to see if anyone’s was around. She wondered what was hidden in there that would push them to make a door like this. The door didn’t had a knob and looked like a wall but Ava wasn’t foolish to know that this was a door.
With curiosity, her hands curled around the small button at the side of the door. She pressed it open and the door opened wide.
When Ava took a step inside the room, she flinched in shock as the door closed itself. Worse of all, the room was very dark. Her head snapped to look at the door which had closed by itself.
She looked around in fear and quickly turned around to open the door. She tried to open the door but it refused to open. She didn’t even know where the button or knob of the door is. The place was plain like a wall and she was scared.
Not knowing what else to do, she decided to shout for help. “Hello? Is there anyone out there? Please help?”
“Hello!” She shouted. She banged on the plain wall which looked like door.
Her eyes scanned the room she was in to see if there was another way out but she was surrounded with complete darkness.
She continued to bang on the door for like fifteen minutes to receive nothing but silence.
Just then, she heard footsteps and she continued to bang on the door to see it open. Ava breathed heavily and placed her hand on her beating chest. Standing in front of the door was Lucy and she was excited that someone had come to save her from this darkness.
“Are you alright? I didn’t see you in the dining room.” Lucy said.
Ava first stepped out of the room before answering the question. “Yes I am. Thank you for coming to save me.”
“What are you doing in this room?” Lucy asked.
“I uhm ..... We should go to your room. I have a story for you.” Ava said to see her lit her eyes in excitement.
“Really?” Lucy asked. “Then let’s go.”
While Ava was narrating the story to Lucy, her mind wandered to the dark room she was in. She wondered what was inside the room. She didn’t get to see the room before Lucy closed the door.
Deciding to ask the young girl about what she meant on what she said at the dining room, she asked. “Did you say you dreamt about seeing me being chased by some masked men?”
Lucy nodded and Ava bit her lips nervously. “Are the men your Big brother enemies?”
“I don’t know.” Lucy replied and Ava cursed inwardly. The woman must have scolded her child to not say anything. Ava decided she would investigate more on this family but with time.
When it was time to leave, Karen waited until Lucy had her dinner before leaving. She stood up and walked towards the door to open it.
She got a message on her phone from the chauffeur that he had arrived. She walked down the corridor only to pause in her footsteps when she heard voices.
Ava stood behind one of the pillars to hide and she stared at the direction the voices were coming from to see Mrs Susan and the butler.
“What happened here? Why do I feel like someone was here?” Susan asked looking at the butler who had a blank expression.
“And what are you doing with these?” Susan asked.
“To clean the room.” The Butler replied.
“You cleaned it last week. Haven’t I told you to clean this room at least a month?” Susan asked.
“This is not like the other rooms where people are allowed to step in. No one is allowed to come here not even my daughter or relatives. Last thing I need is someone coming here and spilling information.” Susan said.
Seeing her phone light up, Ava quickly put her phone on silent and adjusted her body. She hid behind the pillar and made sure no one would see her there.
“I know which is why it is a plain door hidden from sight.” The butler said.
Susan’s eyes fell on the dark room which was opened but she didn’t have a clear view of what was inside. “And you should know you are the only one allowed to clean here. No maid should step in.”
“Yes ma’am.” The butler bowed his head. “I have warned the maids sternly not to go near this side of the Mansion. In short, they do not know that this door exists.”
“Better.” Susan responded, her eyes looking around to see if anyone was watching them. “You are the only one I trust on this.”
“Yes ma. And I will try my best to keep this place safe.” The butler assured her.
“There are so many valuable items inside which I don’t want anyone to see. You know what happened last time. That is why I don’t want anyone here.” Susan said.
“Okay.” The Butler bowed his head.
Ava who was standing near the pillar, continued to watch what was going on. The butler locked the door and he left with Susan.
As Ava turned around ready to leave, her eyes fell on Liam and she gulped softly.
