Surprise

Jordan was standing expressionless. He is long used to seeing them argue. If one does not oppose the other, the other would create another avenue for argument. Jordan had long been used to them and sometimes it makes working with them exciting. But he loves them the way they are because in line of duty they are best at brainstorming together. They know when to be serious and when to be frivolous. Kunle and Isabella had a past but the former still loves her. He didn't get to know exactly what lead to their break up, but somehow, Kunle still have a thing for her in his heart. " They stopped arguing and stood before Jordan, they made a salute and walked closer. Jordan chuckled aloud and exchanged pleasantries with them. He asked why they won't ever stop arguing with each other. Kunle said Isabella was always picking on him. The latter said he can be so nossy. The two started another phase of argument when Jordan said he would send them out if they are not ready to work. "Reserve your argument for a leisure time. But now, there's an investigation we need to do…" Jordan began. He told them the nature of the homicide and what the commissioner told him. He added by saying they would have a new member paired with them. He hoped that the new member to make their team of three become four will prove herself to be trusted. " Oh it's a she?" Kunle asked and Jordan noddedd. " Wow, that's a nice one. I hope she's beautiful and attractive?" Kunle added and Jordan became speechless. He just stared at him. What kind of a guy was Kunle. He was saying it to provoke Isabella. The latter chuckled aloud and Jordan smiled faintly. " Even if she's so beautiful and attractive, I won't let you two be together so you won't pester her like you are doing to Isa" Jordan declared. He often shorten Isabella's name to Isa, an act that is getting accepted by almost everyone in the department. But Isabella doesn't find faults in it. She likes it whether she's called Isabella in full or in the short form Isa. Anyone goes well with her. " No it's not about me. Was just thinking you might finally be attracted to a woman. Who knows if the stone wall you created in your heart would finally be melted by a beautiful woman" Kunle declared. They've tried to persuade Jordan to have another woman after the death of his late wife,but he wouldn't. Maybe working with a beautiful woman would make him see the need to start a relationship with her. Jordan was speechless. He was still contemplating on how to answer Kunle when the head of the department of crime and investigation walked in with a young lady. Before he could look up,his phone started ringing and he excused himself. The head of department started conversing with Kunle and Isabella. He said the new lady was going to be a colleague and a team member. The case before them might be a little challenging and hence a new hand has been added. The team members quickly blended together. They introduced themselves and waited for Jordan to be through with his call. Soon he returned to Join the others " This is the new team member added to your group detective.." Felix Freeman declared. Jordan turned to look at the lady and they both stood, transfixed and stared at each other. This lady again? They are meeting again and it seems they aren't going to be far from each other henceforth. " I am Jordan Duro" he introduced himself, taking her hand and she replied " I am Tina Smith" Tina replied, trying to calm the surging of confusion rising in her heart. She met him again and it appears they would be team together. Tina sighed softly and taking back her hand back quickly and gave a faint smile to cover up the awkwardness in that air. " You both have met before?" Felix Freeman asked, glancing at Jordan and then Tina. " Not really" "We'll just go ahead with what's before us" Tina and Jordan answered simultaneously and gave each other a glaring stare. Others present were surprised. There is something about the meeting of the two detectives. They have met before but don't want to accept that before them. " Hmmmm.." Felix Freeman grunted and looked at them both again before giving details of the investigation. Perhaps these two share a past together and they were surprised acknowledging it before them all. There's something about them that he cannot yet lay his hands on. Tina Smith was feeling very uncomfortable with standing before Jordan. This dude is a detective and the leader of the team she has just been paired with? She hoped working side by side with him would leave a positive impact on her. She turned slowly to steal a glance at him and their eyes locked. She took her eyes away and the others exchange glances. Something is going on between the two, no doubts. Felix Freeman had a cool but quick smile on his lips and left Jordan with a wink, before returning back to his office. Perhaps it was time for Jordan to find another woman or perhaps has found her already. "If there's anything we need to know, let's known Jordan. You know I love beautiful women like this beauty queen before me" Kunle teased and concentrated his attention on the system as if he wasn't the one who asked a question. He suspects already that Jordan and the new detective have had something together before, perhaps a one night stand. "What are you insinuating?" Jordan asked, wearing a poker face. He looked at Isabella and the latter gave a shrug. "Nothing" Kunle responded.
