Duty
JORDAN'S POV I least expected to see her on the plane. I heard someone talk about not wanting to believe that someone was trailing her and opened my eyes. Who was talking and to whom? But the fellow I saw was that lady from the previous day. She? Not again! I looked at her and saw her sit properly adjusting herself and putting her dark shade on. Why do I have to meet her again? Was it a mere coincidence or our paths kept lying together? A weak grin appeared on my lips. I told her I wouldn't mind trailing her. But she suddenly became reserved. As if she wasn't the one who spoke a few minutes ago. She became cold and aloof. Her lips were pouted and she completely ignored me. I looked at her carefully. I wasn't doing it in such a way that she wouldn't know. I wanted her to see me scrutinizing her. She's beautiful. Her hair was made into a ponytail like I had seen her at the amusement park. She had cherry lips and eyes beautiful enough for my liking. She's a tall woman and women with her kind of heights were rare. Having looked at her well, I adjusted my cardigan and sat down properly. I didn't talk to her nor ask her any more questions. Where is she going? Will she be stopping at the Newton city as well or she would be passing by? I waited, wanting to see where she would alight when I arrive at the landing airport. But when the time for the plane to be landing, I saw her looked at her wristwatch and put on her seat belt as everyone else. She walked out of the plane before me, got her luggages and before I decide to catch up on her, a car drove to stand in front of her and she slid in, as the car drove off. I stood and watched her leave. I hailed a taxi and went to my apartment. I had thought I would be going to the office immediately but there were still about one hour remaining. I needed to go home and get my car and then drive back to the force headquarters. I arrived to my apartment, changed into another clothes and got my car keys and then drove out. I stopped by and had a quick breakfast before I drove into the vast landscape where houses the force headquarters. Tina Smith was welcome into her new office and was asked to sign the necessary documents. She did and she had a brief conversation with the commissioner "from your record, you have served with the FBI for two years already and have gotten yourself a name.." Robbin Parker asked. Tina smiled. She had only been involved in a certain assignment that blew her popularity. It took her six months to unveil the hiding place of a most wanted criminal. "Yes sir" Tina replied, trying not to appear like a super star. She only did what she was trained to do and she loves doing it. "That is commendable. With your past record and achievement, you will be paired with our top most detective. He also, like you has made himself a name. You both will start investigating the recent homicide of two women who died the same day within the same frame of time. The case is a little bit complex, one of the victim is a daughter of an highly placed personality in the society and hence we must get to the bottom of the case and apprehend her killers.."Robbin Parker explained. Tina nodded and said she was ready right away to be assigned a duty. Besides, she wants to work with her seniors in the profession and hope to become a super cop one day. Robbin Parker was impressed by her readiness to work and her eagerness to learn from her superiors. Such a combination of characteristics would make her outstanding in the profession. He told her to take her leave. When the detective arrives, he would pair them up. They four would be working together. Tina had left the commissioner's office when Jordan Duro walked in with long strides. "Morn sir!" He made a salutation, placing his right fisted palm on the upper side of his chest with his head raised up looking straight ahead of him. "Jordan, how have you been?" The commissioner asked. Only then did Jordan became relaxed and said he is fine. He apologised for coming a minute later than he should have been there. The commissioner said it was ok. He wasn't too late to be unpardonable. He offered him a seat and Jordan bowed before taking the seat. "Like you've been informed, the criminal investigating department has an urgent need of answers to a certain homicide. I recommended you for the job. So you will be taking over the investigation and I only give you two weeks at the maximum to find answers and bring the culprit before the law. You would be working alongside with your previous team except that I am adding a new member to your group. A new detective just arrived. She has worked with the FBI back in the US and now, has taken up an appointment with her country police force. She has made a good name and is a well known cop from where she was coming from. To add to it, she's a beautiful lady. I would be pairing her with your team. I am sending the information you need to your email and from there, what I expect next is answers. Feel free at the course of this investigation to ask help when needed and information when you are at a crossroads. Anytime, I am available to answer your questions.." the Commissioner explained. Jordan stood up and returned to his office. It's a transparent wall that demarcated the offices. He slide in his password and the door opened immediately. He ordered his secretary to send an immediate call to his colleagues Kunle Davis and Isabella Jones. He had hardly set down when the two colleagues strode in. As always Isabella and Kunle were arguing with each other. They walked in and both paused suddenly. They reserved their argument for a latter time.
