Chapter 12
Geoff
"Don't you fucking dare lay a damn hand on her." She shouted. Alpha Lukas froze, his hand slowly retracting from his Luna's arm. Geoff stared in amazement that he listened. Luna Selene looked grateful.
"You're not Mated, yet you cast your judgement against me?" Adelaide stated. The Alphas looked around as they grew uncomfortable. Alpha Derek stood up from his seat.
"This is enough. I refuse to listen to this child talk. Shut it off." He ordered Archibald.
"Archibald, you shut off that screen, I'll behead you where you stand." Geoff growled his threat. Archibald handed the remote off to Penelope who took it and stashed it away in her bag. Derek growled at her, but she brushed him off.
"Continue darling." Penelope encouraged her, setting her hand on Geoff's shoulder.
"Either leave or take a seat, Derek." Geoff ordered him. Derek snarled, leaving the room.
"Please Alphas, look at your Lunas." Adelaide requested of them. Lukas was reluctant at first, but Jackson and Javon gazed at their Lunas. "Look into her eyes. You may not be soul linked, but deep down, you know that your wolves made a connection to each other. You compliment each other one way or another. Even if you don't say it out loud, you can still feel it." She said. Geoff watched as Javon caressed Isis' cheek. She growled softly, leaning into his touch.
"If you can't accept the invitation because of what I am," Adelaide looked at each couple. Jackson and his Luna pressed their foreheads together, "then accept it for the love Geoff and I share." She told them, sitting back in her seat. Lukas looked at Selene with distaste.
"I still reject the proposal." Alpha Lukas spoke up. Selene slumped her shoulders.
"In that case, I extend an invite to Luna Selene." She said to her. Luna Selene's eyes lit up.
"I'd love to!" She said excitedly. Alpha Lukas stormed from the room as soon as she accepted. The other two Alphas looked to one another, both sharing a nod.
"We will gladly accept your invite, Queen Adelaide ." Alpha Javon responded. Both couples inclined their necks at her. Adelaide looked at them, tears swarming her eyes as she smiled.
"Thank you. Thank you all so much." She inclined her neck in return. The ultimate respect.
"Thank you all for joining this call. This meeting is adjourned." Geoff concluded. The group stood up, offering their necks again before filing out.
"I'll be in the car." Penelope told him before leaving him with the remote. Geoff walked over to the screen, sitting on the table across from it.
"You still amaze me, Adelaide ." He told her. She wiped her eyes, smiling.
"My heart is going a mile a minute right now." She said.
"I'm coming home." He told her. She sniffled, looking at him and her mood suddenly flipped.
"You sir, are in serious trouble." She yelled, crossing her arms over her chest. "How fucking dare you almost give up on me? On us!" She was crying, but she was furious.
"I didn't go through with it." He tried to defend himself.
"You still thought about it, Geoff. All because you had needs to fill. So do I!" She nearly screamed.
"Adelaide , calm down." He put his hands up.
"Don't you dare tell me to calm down." She hiccups, covering her face with her hands. Geoff frowned, touching the screen. "Our love is supposed to be unshakable. Yet you shook it because other women offered themselves to you." She gasped softly. Geoff whimpered.
"Adelaide ..." He ran his fingers over the screen. "I'm sorry. Deeply and truly. I was a fool for growing so weak when I should have been strong for you." He admitted finally. Every single moment he was away from her, he felt his old habits resurfacing, and it frightened him.
"Do you honestly love me?" She asked him.
"More than anything." He told her. "Adelaide , I was ready to give up my rights as King tonight to be with you." He said honestly. She finally looked at him.
"You would do that?" She asked him through small hiccups.
"I don't care for the title, the cars, the house... All I need in my life is you." He said. She sniffled, looking at him with her red tinted eyes.
"Travel safely, okay?" She said, averting her gaze. He frowned, opening his mouth to speak when she ended the call. He dropped his head in his hands, feeling the near loss of his Mate when a presence stepped into the room behind him.
"You would really throw it all away for her?" Derek asked him. Geoff looked over to him, getting off of the table.
"Would you do the same for Penelope?" He growled as he walked passed him, picking up his bag and left the estate behind.
Penelope and Geoff sat waiting for their flight to Washington, a soft drizzle going on outside with the soft rumble of thunder with it. He tried calling Adelaide several times between leaving Hawaii and arriving in Texas, but she refused all of his calls. His wolf hadn't made a single sound either. Hopefully he was comforting her more than he ever could right now. She was right. Their bond was unmatched, yet he unscrewed it because of the temptation of being screwed.
"Are you done beating yourself up about it now?" Penelope asked as she typed away on her phone. He just grumbled incoherently. "You know Adelaide better than anyone. Make it up to her." She told him.
"How? You didn't see her face. She looked broken and betrayed. Again." He threw his ticket on the ground. Penelope picked it up and put it in his pocket.
"Then fix it." She said and went back to her phone. He grabbed it and threw it on the ground.
"Can you act like my mother for once?" He shouted. Heads turned toward them. Penelope looked up at him, taken aback for a second.
"You fucked up." She told him. He felt relieved when she said it. He sat back, looking around.
"I don't want to lose her when we're so close." He told her. Penelope rested her hand on his arm.
"Adelaide is a delicate human being, but she is as strong as a she-wolf. She knows you love her, truly and deeply. I can feel it. Your people can feel it." She looked around the airport, watching people walk by. "You haven't failed her. If your love is absolute, you need to show her. We're the only family that she has." She said, her eyes soft. Geoff looked at her before picking up her now cracked phone. An idea slowly blossomed in his mind and he got to his feet.
"I'll see you back at the house. I have somewhere else to go." He told her as he took out his phone.
"Be safe." She called after him. Geoff scrolled through social media until he was back on Adelaide 's old profile. He continued hunting until he landed on another profile. He sent a message and not a second later received a response with a phone number.
"Hello?" An older man's voice picked up.
"Nathan, this is Geoff Brook. I wanted to talk to you about your daughter. Can we meet?"
