Chapter 11

Geoff Every single night was a party, and it got him no where with the Alphas. Each one was too dignified to think about his invite, let alone even open up to talk about it. Each night after making his argument known, he'd escape to the beach, away from the music, the dancing, the drinking, the women. Damn, the women. Archibald wasn't joking about their beauty, yet his wolf would snarl each time a she-wolf advanced on him. His wolf was determined to keep him innocent during his visit there, but he missed Adelaide . He missed having her soft, warm body beside him every night. He missed waking up to her every morning. He missed her scent, her voice, but he felt like giving up. Giving in to his needs. Giving up being the man she wanted him to be. Then one night, alone on the beach again as he was struggling to stay away from yet another orgy offer, he heard her. He swore he did. Yet she wasn't there. Then he felt her, just for a moment. Her scent wafted through him, reigniting his purpose. She spoke to him like she was physically there with him. She believed in him. She loved him, no matter what would happen in the end. That gave him the strength to move forward, to slay his own inner demons and face the obstacle before him. He had been preparing his departure when Damion called him, requesting a conference call with the Alphas. At first he was against it. There was no more talking about it when they were so firm on their decision, but his wolf encouraged him. He needed to try one last time. "The room is ready, Geoff." Penelope informed him from the doorway. He picked up his bag, slinging it over his shoulder. No matter what now, he was heading home and staying there. "Is everyone in attendance?" He asked her as they walked down the stone staircase. "Yes, even Derek is here as well." She told him. He straightened his back. More fuel for the fire. They entered the living room, the gentle breeze swaying the tan curtains of the veranda. Each Alpha again being present with their Lunas. Then Derek sitting in the seat opposite of Archibald. Each Alpha stood, inclining their necks at him. Depending how things would turn out, this might be the last time that they do this for him. "Thank you all for convening tonight. We have a conference call coming in from my Beta." He told them as they took a seat once he did. Archibald held up his remote to the large screen across the way and turned it on. Except Damion wasn't sitting on the other side of the camera. It was Adelaide . "Good evening everyone." She smiled, her eyes looking around the table until they landed on Geoff. He let out a sigh upon seeing her, his heart ramming against his chest. "I'm a bit lost. We were informed that Beta Damion was going to be addressing the table." Alpha Javon spoke up. Adelaide inclined her head, tapping her chin where Geoff noticed her arm was bandaged. "Adelaide , what happened to your arm?" He asked, ignoring the Alpha's question. She blinked, looking down at it and let out an awkward laugh. "Elias shifted today." She beamed. Geoff heard Penelope let out a soft gasp behind him. "There was an incident at the park earlier today and it just happened." Her eyes sparkled. "His fur is as black as night and its so soft." She squealed excitedly. He smiled at her. She would probably go insane when they had their own pups. "Can we get to the point of this call, please?" Derek ushered them along. Geoff snarled at him. Adelaide directed her attention to Derek, her smile dropping. "Alpha Derek, usually when a child accomplishes something, the parent acknowledges and congratulates." She said, shifting her attention back to the group. Derek's shoulders rose and fell like waves. "I asked for the call. I apologize that Beta Damion didn't properly address that to you all." She told them. Each Alpha looked to one another. "If this is about your mating ceremony, you should know that you don't have our approval." Alpha Jackson informed her. But Adelaide smiled at him. "That's okay because I don't want your approval." She told him. She took a deep breath, her eyes focused, her shoulders back, her chin high. "Werewolves have existed since the story of Jesus Christ, the Werewolf King born in the fall of Julius Caesar." She started to recite their history. He was impressed that she managed to learn so much in such a short time. "We don't want to relearn our history." Alpha Derek let out a growl. "Yet it seems that you need to be reminded." She told him. "This has been the first occurrence of a human and a Werewolf King being soul-linked. Instead of honoring your King, you through dirt on him instead." She turned her gaze on the three other Alphas. "I'm not a fool. I know you spent every night feeding my Mate alcohol and women, trying to sway him into ditching me for a she-wolf." She turned her gaze on Geoff. He swallowed hard. "Did you tell her?" Archibald asked him. "He didn't need to. His wolf did." She replied for him. Geoff rubbed his temples. He had serious making up to do when he got home. "What do you mean his wolf told you?" The Luna to Javon spoke up shyly, her dreads tied back in a braid. Adelaide looked over to her, then to the other females. "I'm sorry, I know the Alphas, but not their Lunas. What is your name?" Adelaide asked her. "Her name is..." Alpha Javon spoke up. "I asked her." Adelaide snapped at him. Javon went quiet, surprising the other Alphas. "Go on." She switched her attitude again to the Luna. "I'm Luna Isis." She responded. Adelaide 's eyes widened and she smiled. "Like the Egyptian Goddess?" She asked her. Luna Isis nodded and Adelaide let out a soft squeal. "I love it! I love Egyptian history. I actually took a course..." Adelaide started to ramble like she would when something of interest came up. "Stay on track, Adelaide ." Geoff told her, but he wanted to keep listening to her. She looked at him and cleared her throat. "Right right, I'm sorry." She looked back to Luna Isis. "After Geoff marked me and we..." She blushed brightly, "sealed the deal, his wolf leant me his strength. I've been able to communicate with him on a daily basis." She told her. That explains what happened on the beach then. "Hello, Luna Adelaide ? My name is Luna Selene." The brunette spoke up beside Alpha Lukas. "You may not know this, but we're not mated." She made gestures to the wolves at the table. Adelaide 's eyes widened at her words. "Really?" She asked and she nodded. Alpha Lukas snarled at his Luna. He reached up, grabbing her arm and tightened his grip. Luna Selene gasped softly, silencing herself. Before Geoff could interject, Adelaide was ahead of him.
