Chapter 17 Critical Situation
As far as Maria could see, Dorothy was lying on the bed with disheveled clothes. Her body twitched from time to time. Blood could be seen flowing down her thighs, staining the white sheet.
There was a faint smell of blood in the air.
Tears welled up in Maria's eyes. She hurriedly grabbed a towel to wipe Dorothy's body clean. Then, she changed her into a set of clean clothes.
Choking up, she said with tears rolling down her cheeks, "How... how are you feeling?"
After a long time, Dorothy stirred from her unconsciousness. Her beautiful face that used to be glamorous, was now like a withered flower without any luster.
After she had recovered a little, she subconsciously touched her abdomen and murmured, "My child... please save my child..."
"Don't worry. The baby will be fine. I'll inform Mr. Scott right away."
Lowering her head, Maria wiped the tears from the corner of her eyes. She then ran to the corridor to give Credence a call.
No! Don't call him!
She raised her hand in an effort to stop Maria, but Maria was so fast that she failed to stop her.
The next moment, Dorothy heard the sound of the phone being connected, as well as Maria's earnest report. She dropped her hand feebly on the bed. A bitter smile appeared on her face.
Credence could not wait for the child in her belly to disappear. How would he possibly lend her a helping hand at this time?
Dorothy seemed to have accepted her fate.
Fate had decided that she would lose her child!
......
Maria stood at the corridor and dialed Credence's phone number anxiously. After around ten minutes, Credence finally said on the other end of the line, "What's the matter?"
"Mr. Scott, please save Mrs. Scott. She... She bled a lot."
In his office, Credence was about to head to the conference room to host a meeting among the higher-ups of the company. Upon hearing Maria's report, he tightened his grip on the door handle. When he realized that something was wrong with him, he slowly released his fingers.
When he opened his mouth to speak again, he sounded indifferent as usual. "There's no rush to send her to the hospital. Call Dr. Sanders over to check on her."
Maria hesitated for a moment. She then mustered up her courage and asked, "Dr. Sanders? Would that be fine?"
William Sanders was the Scott family's private doctor. It was said that he graduated from a famous medical school abroad. He had excellent medical skills. However, he was not a gynecologist.
Therefore, Maria couldn't help feeling uneasy.
"Of course it's fine! Just do as I say!" Credence hung up the phone furiously.
Maria had no choice but to call William over to check on Dorothy.
William arrived quickly. It would normally take him half an hour to get there. But this time, he arrived at the villa in just fifteen minutes.
Along with William was Juelz, who was on the verge of exploding with anger.
William was a middle-aged man. When he received Maria's call, he immediately drove over. Never did he expect that on his way, he was intercepted by Juelz. Under Juelz's treat, he had no other choice but to bring him along.
Standing at the door of the bedroom, Maria let William in. When Juelz wanted to enter, she stopped him, saying, "Mrs. Scott is inside. Sorry, you're not allowed to go in."
"What the hell? Why can't I go in? The person inside is my lovely Dory!"
Once Juelz lost his cool, no one could stop him.
He shoved Maria away and barged into the room. When he saw Dorothy lying in a pool of blood, he clenched his fists and punched the bedside table. His eyes were red as he shouted, 'Hang in there, Dory! You promised me that you'll go to Northville with me to find your true self, and to search for your ideal life... Get up now! Don't f*cking sleep anymore!"
Meanwhile, William had finished performing a full-body examination on Dorothy. His face fell as he said with a frown, "Mrs. Scott is in a very critical situation. She has to be sent to the hospital immediately. If there's any more delay, I'm afraid the child could not be saved."
"What the hell are you all waiting for? Hurry up and send her to the hospital!"
Juelz did not notice the awkward look on Maria's and William's faces. With a swift movement, he picked Dorothy up from the bed and dashed out of the room.
When Maria and William came to their senses, Juelz had already put Dorothy into the back seat of the car. He then sped to the hospital.
Maria's face turned pale. She hurriedly called Credence and reported the situation with a trembling voice.
"D*mn it!"
In the conference room, Credence smashed his phone on the ground. For the first time ever, he lost his cool in front of all the higher-ups of the company.
