Chapter 18 You Deserve It

Thanks to Juelz's arrangement, Dorothy was pushed into the emergency room by a doctor who had been waiting for quite a while. The door of the emergency room closed, leaving Juelz alone outside. He rubbed his face in frustration. Leaning against the wall, he waited without moving an inch. As time went by, Juelz's heart was in turmoil as he watched the red indicator light flashing non-stop. He was like a cat on hot bricks. After what seemed like an eternity, the door was finally pushed open. Dorothy was pushed out of the emergency room by the nurses. She was then sent to the observation room on the fifth floor. Juelz immediately followed behind. When he saw Dorothy lying on the hospital bed lifelessly with her eyes closed, his heart ached for her. "Wake up, Dory. Don't sleep anymore. Your child..." Dorothy seemed to have fallen into a deep slumber. While in her state of half-consciousness, Juelz's repeated words stimulated her brain. Suddenly, she opened her eyes and touched her abdomen subconsciously. Tears shoved up her throat. "What happened to my child? Tell me!" Seeing her agitated reaction, Juelz reflectively concealed the truth. He pretended to tease casually, "My godson is safe and sound in your belly." "You're lying to me, aren't you? Tell me the truth. I want to know the truth." Juelz turned his head and eyes wandered. "Dory, I'm not lying to you. I'm telling you the truth." As Juelz refused to admit it, Dorothy was getting even more anxious. Despite feeling extremely weak and painful, she lifted herself up. Shaking his arms, she said with a sad smile, "Juelz, when you lie, you wouldn't look at my eyes while speaking. I know that you are lying. My child... my child has really left me this time!" She buried her head in Juelz's arms in despair. Her hair was in a mess. As if she had lost the whole world, she burst into uncontrollable sobs. "Don't cry, Dory. You're the strongest woman in the world! As long as you are willing to, I can give you a dozen children." Juelz patted her back gently and comforted her incoherently. ...... Credence pushed the door open and walked in. Watching the loving scene before him, he suddenly felt that he was the third wheel. "Juelz Sherman, do you want the Sherman family to go bankrupt before you could remember that she is my wife?" "Credence Scott!" Juelz roared with outrage at the sight of the culprit who had hurt Dorothy. He couldn't wait to tear Credence into pieces to avenge Dorothy. "Juelz, can you please step away for a while? I have something to say to him." Dorothy gave Juelz's arm a push. Then, she took a deep breath and slowly turned to look at Credence. Fixing her eyes on him, her lips curled into a mocking smile. "Sure, I'll listen to you! I'll be right outside. Call me if you need me. I'd not let him off the hook!" Clenching his fists, Juelz punched the air in Credence's direction a few times before walking out of the observation room reluctantly. "Credence, the child is gone. Are you happy now?" Dorothy smiled faintly with a bitter look on her pale face. Credence stood beside her bed and stooped to look at her teary eyes. He gently caressed her face with his fingers and said with a calm expression, "It's not my child, of course I'm happy." Despite having expected his cruel response, Dorothy still felt a stabbing pain in her heart. She trembled from the intense pain. Suddenly, she looked up and laughed out loud. While laughing, tears started streaming down her face. "You're so wrong! It really is your child. Your own flesh and blood!" "What do you mean?" He raised his eyebrows. "If you even have a shred of manhood left in you, you should redo the paternity test. The embryo is still in the emergency room. If you want, you can get the result immediately. You have never believed me! Now, your own flesh and blood is gone. Ha ha, you deserve it!" As far as he could recall, this was the first time that Dorothy had acted unscrupulously before him. It was not a pleasant sight to see. Credence frowned impatiently, saying, "Anyone would be qualified enough to bear my child, except you!" With that, he turned and left without looking back.
