Chapter 7: Trying to Trap Me with a Child
Nora pulled Harper along, walking forward. She suddenly spotted Austin and felt a bit surprised, but quickly concealed it, approaching with a calm expression.
"What are you doing here?" Austin asked.
"Do you know what Nora..." Harper looked angry.
Nora grabbed Harper's hand, signaling her not to continue. "I came to check on Miss Mitchell."
Austin sneered, "Are you being so kind-hearted?"
"Yeah, let's go and see. It's been half a month already," Nora said with a hint of sarcasm.
As Austin walked towards the ward, Nora quickly saw Aria, whose face was deathly pale, with tetanus shots visible on her forehead. In just half a month, she had become significantly thinner. She had brought this upon herself, all for the purpose of sowing discord between Nora and Austin. Nora couldn't help but feel a bit ironic.
"Austin..." As the door opened, Aria cheerfully exclaimed. However, upon seeing Nora, her face stiffened, and she spoke in a dull tone, "What are you here for? To see if I'm dead or alive?"
Nora remained unruffled, calmly entering the room. "I came to check on Miss Mitchell's condition. It's been half a month, and there's been no improvement. Austin must be quite worried."
Aria harbored anger in her heart. She took Nora's husband, yet Nora remained composed and indifferent. This bothered Aria even more, intensifying her disdain for Nora. "If it weren't for your jealousy, taking away my man, I wouldn't be lying here for so long. Nora, you're so ruthless. What goes around comes around to you one day!"
Nora smiled. Even if there was karma, it wouldn't find her. "Miss Mitchell, aren't you saying this with a guilty conscience? You occupied my husband for five years. It's quite persistent as a home wrecker."
Aria was infuriated, her face turning red. Mocked by Nora, she felt more justified in her anger. "Back then, I was already married to Austin. It was you who intervened, leading to my mother's death. You are the other woman!"
"Is that so?" Nora spoke frankly, having nothing to hide. "If Austin hadn't forgotten about me, do you think he would have fallen in love with you? Aria, you've impersonated me for five years, living in my shadow. It's ridiculous for you to call me the other woman. If you hadn't lied, Austin would never look at you with genuine affection!"
Nora's straightforward words struck Aria hard. Red-eyed, she glared at Nora. While Aria had pretended to be Nora and occupied Austin for five years, she wasn't afraid of anything. All of this was well-deserved.
"I'm pregnant," Nora declared. "It's Austin's."
Aria's pupils contracted, and she screamed with anger, grabbing things and throwing them at Nora. Fortunately, Nora dodged quickly, avoiding getting hit.
"Nora, go to hell!" Aria was hysterical.
The commotion in the hospital room reached Austin's ears, prompting him to rush in. Aria, in an agitated state, cried and shouted as soon as she saw Austin, "Austin, make Nora leave. I don't want to see her. She's too heartless. I don't want to see her."
Austin's face changed dramatically. He questioned Nora, "What did you do to Aria?"
"Nothing," Nora replied. "I just told her that I'm pregnant."
This was shocking news. Austin was equally stunned; he never expected Nora to be so scheming, secretly manipulating things to become pregnant.
Austin grabbed Nora's hand and sternly demanded, "Come with me!"
Nora followed Austin calmly, showing no signs of panic. However, her actions irritated Austin.
Austin disliked Nora playing mind games, especially involving a pregnancy and keeping it a secret from him. In a cold voice, he said, "What have you done to get pregnant?"
Nora held her stomach and replied calmly, "I mentioned wanting a child. Naturally, I found a way. Don't worry; I'll take care of the child myself before it's born. Don't worry."
"Nora!" Austin roared, glaring at her with intense displeasure. "You didn't ask for my opinion. Suddenly, there's a child. Are you trying to trap me with a child and avoid getting a divorce?"
