Chapter 4
But Harry refused to give up and he continued, "It's been four years, have you even spoken to a woman?"
"Can't find one," he replied.
The man's legs were crossed, one hand drew a cigarette from his wallet. Someone immediately lit it, and he looked at the man in front of him faintly.
Harry was stunned. "Are you sure you even like women?"
He looked over at Harry with a bored expression and he immediately became silent.
As everyone gave up asking him, the man suddenly spoke, "I found a woman I want."
His words were like a lightning strike on the earth.
Harry's eyes widened in shock. "Really? Are you sure it's a woman, not a man?"
The man had a smile on his face, he wasn't angry this time.
"Damn! Who is this woman? You just have to tell us who it is, and we'll treat you like a married couple even if you aren't married yet." Harry almost cried with joy.
He was the youngest of three brothers but he had an appearance that was simply incomparable to the rest of his family.
Back in their college days, Harry decided to set him up with the hottest girl on campus. He sent her to sleep next to him in his room, but she came out with an irritated expression. She said that he woke up and immediately locked himself in the bathroom when he realized what she was doing.
Their youngest brother, who had a body and face sculpted by Donatello, was just a useless decoration. Harry thought that his brother would stay like this forever, but he felt relieved when he found a woman. He said with a wide smile on his face, "Come on, tell us! Who was charming enough to catch you?"
According to the address Ruby told her about, Wendy came to the Crimson Club.
She squeezed through the horde of dancing drunks, until she finally saw Ruby, who was already a bit drunk at the bar.
Her strapless, burgundy dress with an open V back highlighted her beautiful figure and the alcohol made her face look more amorous.
As soon as Wendy sat down, Ruby glanced over and said, "So what happened?"
Wendy shook her head quietly. She gently touched Ruby's glass as she was waiting for her own cocktail to arrive. She replied, "She asked me to divorce Brian, I left her there on the spot."
Wendy couldn't continue after that.
"Men like him always have another woman. You don't have to stay with him, you know?"
Ruby took her glass and drank the wine with tears in the corner of her eyes.
Wendy noticed this and she said, "Don't be sad, I'm not worth the trouble."
She knew Wendy was just comforting her, but she couldn't help herself and she started berating her.
"Is Brian worth the trouble? That night, I told you not to marry him, but you still did it anyway. Now, he's sleeping around with another woman. If I didn't see him that night—"
Ruby noticed Wendy's eyes getting red, she felt startled. She immediately stopped talking and continued to drink.
Wendy wiped off the tears from the corners of her eyes. She suddenly smiled at Ruby. "Irma said that Brian just hasn't settled down yet. She said that when he figures himself out, he will naturally come back to me."
"You believe in her too? I know Irma is a nice lady but come on," Ruby's eyes flushed. "Wake up, Wendy. Brian's family has been using you and your grandfather from the beginning. They were on the verge of bankruptcy, but now look at how much money the Gu family has now. That heartless dog used you for your wealth, but he kept ignoring and humiliating you. Now that he got what he needed, he leaves you for another woman."
Wendy was stiff, but at this moment, she suddenly thought of what happened when her mother died a year ago. She hid in the closet and felt like she wanted to die there. It was Brian who found her, comforted her, encouraged her, and freed her from the grief of losing a loved one.
The Brian at that time and the Brian now were constantly overlapping and separating.
Wendy suddenly couldn't tell which one was the real him, but she knew that no matter which him it was, she never earned his love.
She opened her eyes sharply, only to find that her eyes were blurry with tears. She took her cocktail and drank it with sorrow.
They drank for a little while longer, until Ruby eventually collapsed next to her. Wendy took her phone from her bag and dialed a contact by the name of Dr. Lu
Dr. Lu rushed over immediately and as he gently supported Ruby, Wendy felt a little sour. She explained a little bit and watched the two of them leave.
The bartender asked if she wanted any more wine, but she shook her head and stumbled off the chair.
Wendy had an uncomfortable feeling in her stomach. She squinted her eyes as she walked towards the bathroom.
When she turned the corner she didn't notice her legs giving out on her. She closed her eyes wearily as she fell to the ground.
"Hey, careful!" A clear voice could be heard.
Wendy was stunned, she realized someone had caught her. She looked up and squinted to see who it was, but she was too nauseous to see anything. She passed out unconscious on the spot.
Harry looked at the man who was holding a strange woman in front of him like he had seen a ghost. His eyes widened in disbelief, and his finger was pointed towards him. "You, you, you, you, you," for a long time he didn't say anything else but you.
