Chapter 9

Savannah's eyes turned red-rimmed, and her voice became sharp and trembling. "Apologize to her? Not in a million years! I didn't lay a hand on her!" Brielle was a celebrity, whereas Savannah was nothing but a housewife. However, this was only because she had sacrificed her thriving career for Wyatt. Wyatt, however, was done pretending. His voice turned icy and thick with hatred as he said, "Everyone saw it. You've held a grudge against Brielle for years. Jealousy got the better of you, and you pushed her down the stairs. You will apologize to her!" Savannah's resolve hardened, and she knocked the flask of soup he'd brought, spilling it across the floor. Wyatt's face fell, and he stepped closer. With a sudden yank, Savannah was dragged off without warning. Her knees slammed hard against the floor with a dull thud, and the sharp pain made her gasp instinctively. But Wyatt showed no sign of stopping. His grip was so tight that it felt like he was trying to crush Savannah's bones as he dragged her toward the door with brute force. Savannah's hair was disheveled from the struggle. While she fought back, she cried out again and again, her voice desperate and hoarse. "Let go of me! You're insane! I didn't push her. I didn't!" Her cries fell on deaf ears as Wyatt hauled her down the hall until they reached Brielle's ward. Inside, Camden was feeding Brielle soup from a flask identical to the one Wyatt had brought earlier. So the soup had been made especially for Brielle. Savannah had just been an afterthought. Brielle looked down at Savannah from her high pedestal. "Wyatt, I know Savannah pushed me down the stairs out of jealousy, but you don't have to go this far. She's pregnant, after all." "No. She has to apologize for what she did!" Ignoring Savannah's discomfort, Wyatt grabbed her neck and forced her to bow her head. "Apologize now!" "I told you, I didn't do it!" Camden chimed in, "Uncle Wyatt, that’s enough. Don't forget she's pregnant…" His words trailed off, but everyone understood what was unsaid. The reminder made Wyatt pause, and he realized he was being impulsive. Savannah was still carrying his and Brielle's child. As much as he was furious, he had to keep up the appearance of a loving husband. Brielle added pretentiously, "Savannah, don't blame Wyatt. He's just acting on impulse." Savannah felt sick as she watched the three of them play their roles so seamlessly. She pushed herself up from the floor and stormed out of the room. Later that night, Brielle slipped into Savannah's ward and sized up her belly. Savannah quietly switched on a voice recorder. Brielle smirked coldly. She didn't have to keep up her pretense now that they were alone. She revealed her true colors and confessed, "Camden and Wyatt... I want them both!"
