Chapter 10

Brielle's voice was full of greed and self-entitlement, but she spoke casually. "We were both sponsored by Grandpa Finnley, so why did he choose you to become part of the family and not me? He didn't even mind if it meant you married his son instead of his grandson! "You're an orphan just like me. Why is it that you get to marry into wealth? I'm going to take everything from you! They wanted to keep this from you, but you discovered it anyway. In that case, you might as well let me have Wyatt." Savannah hadn't realized Brielle had harbored resentment against her for that long. "You don't love anyone, Brielle. You only love yourself." Brielle chuckled softly, her expression dripping with mockery at the mention of love. "Savannah, do you know why you ended up like this? Because you only cared about whether you loved them. You loved Camden, so you deserved to be sullied. You loved Wyatt, so you deserved to be played! "I don't love any of them. They love me, and that's all I need. I don't need to love them. I climb on their shoulders to get what I want, and if I have to, I'll sacrifice them both." Savannah's body went cold as she heard Brielle's words. Her mind couldn't quite process that the sweet, innocent image of Brielle was nothing but a mask hiding someone so malicious. Brielle stepped closer, her gaze lingering on Savannah's belly. Then, she suddenly laughed. "Savannah, you're truly pathetic." Savannah knew Brielle thought she hadn't yet discovered the truth about the baby. Brielle assumed she could rest easy as the pregnancy would be preserved. But Savannah had already discovered the truth and had her plans in motion. Monday was the scheduled day for the surgery. In the days leading up to it, Wyatt had returned to being the perfect husband and father. He was constantly by Savannah's side, attending to her every need as he was terrified that something might go wrong with the baby. Thus, when Savannah asked to spend some time alone outdoors, Wyatt didn't object. Savannah lay on the operating table, the cold metal beneath her and the chilly air seeping through the thin hospital gown. Nonetheless, the physical chill didn't compare to the emptiness in her heart. The memories of her time with Wyatt flickered through her mind like a spinning kaleidoscope. As the anesthesia took effect, the sharp scalpel hovered over her abdomen. The moment it made contact, Savannah could hear the sound of flesh being cut open. The doctor’s movements were swift and precise. The incision was clean, and she felt little pain. She watched as the baby was removed from her womb, and whatever lingering affection she had for Wyatt faded away. "Would you like to see the baby? It's still alive, though very fragile." At five months, the baby's limbs and brain had already begun to develop, taking on a recognizable form. Savannah, still half-dazed, closed her eyes and shook her head. Knowing the pregnancy was the product of betrayal, she decided it was her responsibility to end it. When asked if the baby had a name to mark the specimen, she quietly replied, "Dawson Greene." It was made up of both Wyatt and Brielle's names. "Thank you for your contribution. The first public display of this specimen will take place at our upcoming medical exhibition. We will inform you of the details, and you may choose whether or not to attend." After the surgery, Savannah returned to the ward and called her agent. "Hello, how is the progress of my visa application?"
