This was the most dangerous place in all of Aether Spire. Elara had heard of this massive water tank before—rumor had it that the base was connected to the ocean and hundreds of feet deep. It contained the research base's most powerful and terrifying experimental subject to date.
The faint sound of clinking metal rang out behind her. It carried an eerie, malevolent weight. An indescribable malice enveloped her, making her feel like a snake's cold tongue had flicked against the back of her neck.
She whipped around warily, but there was nothing behind her. Her bleeding feet left a long trail of blood behind her, but the rain helped to wash it away.
This was Elara's first time at the mysterious hexagonal plaza. The feeling of being watched engulfed her. From the moment she'd stepped foot in this place, she'd become a lamb up for slaughter, trembling under the predatory gazes of the creatures around her.
