The creature's tough shell rapidly clattered against the floor, and each strike felt like a hammer to Elara's heart.
Human legs didn't stand a chance against the eight long legs of an arthropod. Soon, her heart raced from the exertion, and her breathing was erratic. Her overtaxed legs felt as heavy as if they'd been filled with lead.
Someone had maliciously placed a metal door before the escape passage, barring anyone from entering. Elara also saw odd, gigantic silhouettes by the main doors leading to Zone S. She had no choice but to search for another escape route.
However, her footsteps didn't just attract the spider. Other creatures heard her, too.
She turned the corner and took off her shoes, throwing them into the distance. The sound of them falling onto the floor attracted the attention of the creatures following her. They abruptly switched directions in pursuit, giving her the opportunity to flee.
