Chapter 26

Lightning flashed in the sky, abruptly illuminating Elara's surroundings. She saw a huge shadow on the ground. She whipped around fearfully to see a gigantic creature crawling forward while following her blood trail from a distance. Its skin was gray-brown and wrinkled. It didn't have eyes, only two nostril-like holes that twitched as it sniffed the scent of blood. It also had two enormous ears on its sides. Elara was out of options. She curled up beside the gigantic glass tank, carefully hiding there. Behind her, the glass revealed the dark, endless ocean. She couldn't control the bleeding in her feet nor stop herself from smelling like a delicious dish to the creatures. The scent of her blood spread, allowing the creature to creep toward her and eventually swallow her whole. She had no strength to fight back. One step, two steps… Each step the creature took made the ground tremble. It was almost upon Elara, so she squeezed her eyes shut. However, the expected pain didn't come.
