Chapter 6 Taking Advantage
“Shameless! You’re extorting us, taking advantage of the situation!” Despite her fear and tears, Tia lashed out at MacIntyre, venting her anger.
“Hah, and this is at a discount. No deal? Then I guess I’ll see you in heaven.”
Heatonmon’s forehead was sweating. He could kill MacIntyre with a bit more pressure, but even though he didn’t trust MacIntyre, he had no better options.
As he hesitated, he felt a sharp pain in his wrist. MacIntyre had snatched the knife from his hand so quickly that he couldn’t react.
“You!”
“Hah, you think this junk could kill me? I’ll ask again, will you pay or not?”
Heatonmon was stunned but quickly nodded. “Not just ten pounds, if I survive, I’ll give you twenty pounds of gold.”
MacIntyre nodded in satisfaction and tossed the knife back to Heatonmon before getting out of the car.
“You’re crazy to trust him. He’ll get us all killed,” Tia whispered, looking for a chance to escape, but Heatonmon sighed. “We have no choice. He’s our only hope.”
Seeing MacIntyre, the assassin mocked, “Who are you?”
“Enough talk. I’m here to make money. Let’s get this over with.”
The assassin, surprised by MacIntyre’s boldness, had never encountered someone so arrogant. Before he could react, MacIntyre lunged at him.
The assassin, having released James, charged at MacIntyre. With a loud crash, they collided.
Crack!
The assassin dropped to his knees, and the sound of breaking bones echoed before he collapsed and died.
MacIntyre didn’t even glance at the body, blowing on his fist. “If I’d known he was this weak, I wouldn’t have hit so hard.”
Tia and Heatonmon were stunned.
“What just happened?”
“Just one punch?”
MacIntyre whistled towards the car. “Come and check. Don’t say I cheated you.”
Heatonmon shook his head, realizing it wasn’t a dream. MacIntyre had indeed killed the assassin with one punch.
Heatonmon and Tia got out of the car, bowing repeatedly. “Mr. MacIntyre, we were wrong to offend you. Please forgive us.”
Heatonmon no longer doubted MacIntyre. Killing a Level 3 Assassin with one punch proved his strength.
“Enough talk. Pay up.”
Heatonmon nodded. “Of course, I won’t shortchange you.”
“James!”
Tia knelt by the dying James, crying uncontrollably. His ribs seemed broken, and blood was pooling around his neck.
“We need to get him to a hospital!”
Heatonmon tried to lift James, but MacIntyre shook his head. “His bones are shattered. Moving him will kill him.”
Heatonmon, desperate, bowed to MacIntyre. “Please, save him. He’s served me loyally for years. I know you can help.”
MacIntyre stroked his chin. “You’re right. I can help. What’s your offer?”
“Another twenty pounds of gold, forty pounds in total!”
MacIntyre, pleased by the generous offer, agreed readily.
He conjured the knife again, but instead of using it, he asked about James’s background.
“He’s an orphan. I took him in as a child. He’s protected me ever since, never failing. I have only one daughter, so...”
MacIntyre nodded. “Makes sense.”
Tia, tear-streaked, watched James closely. Clearly, their relationship was special.
MacIntyre began the Shadow Purification technique, working carefully on James’s severe injuries.
As he worked, several cars approached. MacIntyre ignored them, confident in his ability to handle whatever came.
“Are you all right? Where are those men?”
A dignified woman named Enos stepped out, wearing a stylish, elegant evening dress that highlighted her figure.
Her striking features and golden curls added to her allure, her deep blue eyes cold and determined.
MacIntyre’s interest was piqued by her beauty, a stark contrast to his time in confinement.
Enos and Marissa were both considered top beauties in Starburg City.
Heatonmon shook his head. “A false alarm. If not for Mr. MacIntyre, we’d be dead.”
Enos looked skeptically at MacIntyre treating James. “He saved you? Really?”
“Absolutely!” Heatonmon was moved. “Mr. MacIntyre killed a Level 3 Assassin with one punch and used Holy Order techniques. He’s truly exceptional.”
Enos, confused but intrigued, smiled slightly, her gaze softening towards MacIntyre.
“Glad to hear it.”
She ordered the men behind her to burn the bodies to avoid panic, displaying her authority as the CEO of Disimon Group.
MacIntyre straightened up, stretching. “This job is exhausting. James is fine now. Remember to eat more vegetables.”
James, now healed, sat up, feeling no pain.
“James…”
Tia looked at him tenderly.
James smiled, assuring her he was fine.
Heatonmon was now completely convinced of MacIntyre’s abilities, seeing him save James from the brink of death.
“Mr. MacIntyre, you saved us again. We’ll always support you.”
“Just make sure the gold is accurate. I’m an honest businessman.”
MacIntyre stretched. “So, are we still having that meal? I’m starving after all this.”
“Of course, please, get in the car.”
Enos was about to return to her own car, but Heatonmon stopped her.
“I noticed Mr. MacIntyre likes you. He’s our benefactor. Accompany him.”
Heatonmon whispered to Enos, “James was right. He’s reached the Initial Ascension level and mastered Holy Order techniques. We can’t ignore someone like that.”
Enos saw through Heatonmon’s intentions and smirked.
“Very well. Someone so young with such power deserves our attention.”
She opened the car door, invitingly.
