Chapter 14

Liam I was enjoying my family's company with Ethan when I heard someone fall and I heard glass break, I stood up to offer assistance when I found out it was Laura. My heart started beating so hard that I felt like it would jump right out of my chest, numerous emotions rushed through me at once but I settled on one, Anger. "What's wrong with you? Can't you do one thing right?" I asked and Laura raised her head to look at me, there were tears in her eyes and my heart skipped one beat out of fear. "Goodness Liam, what is wrong with you?" Isabella asked pushing me out of the way, she rushed to Laura and helped her up, Laura looked at me again this time she wiped her tears and ran out of the sitting room. "Why did you yell at the lady like that?" My mum asked glaring at me. "She was clumsy mum," I said trying to defend my action but my sister wasn't having it. "She was not clumsy Liam, she was shocked, she was shocked to see me," Isabella said looking very angry. "Why would she be shocked to see you?" I asked confused. "Because I know her idiot!" She yelled pushing my chest continuously. "Okay, calm down Isabella," Ethan said holding her hands. "He should apologize," my mum said and Ethan nodded. "I'll talk to him, he'll apologize," Ethan said then looked at me passing a silent message, I nodded then I went to my room, and Ethan joined me inside a few minutes later. "Why did you say those mean things to her?" Ethan asked the moment he entered. "What do you mean?" I asked feigning ignorance. "Liam, if I'm not wrong that is Laura," "Yes, so?" "Why did you talk at her like that?" "She was clumsy, she broke those glass cups," "Liam, we both know those glass cups are the least of your problem, you can easily buy a million of them and it won't hurt your account balance, now tell me why you said those mean things to that lady or I swear I'll beat the crap out of you for making her cry," "I didn't mean to make her cry," "Then why did you talk to her like that?" "I was angry Ethan, I was angry," "Why?" "She just got back from the hospital, she should be resting, she should be recuperating, what on earth was she doing trying to serve us?" "You hired her to be your housekeeper, she was just doing her job," "I don't care, she was hurt, she should be resting," "Wait, so you are angry because she didn't take care of herself?" He asked and I kept mute. "Those things you said were too harsh, she cried!" "That was not my intention," "You should apologize to her," he said folding his hands against his chest. "No!" "Look here, your sister and your mum just arrived and you've managed to upset them and the only way out of this is to apologize to Laura, apart from that, what you said to Laura was mean even though you were trying to look out for her safety so you should apologize" he concluded and I opened my mouth to protest but I closed it back. Not apologizing would upset my mother and I want to know if Laura is fine after falling like that. "Okay, I'll talk to her," I said standing then I sat back down when I remembered what Isabella said. "You heard what Isabella said didn't you?" I asked and he lifted a brow. "She said a lot of things," "She said she knows Laura, that Laura tripped because she was shocked to see her," "Oh that, we'll talk about that later, go now," he said and I nodded. I headed to Laura's room where I met my mum, Isabella, and Maria comforting Laura, I felt bad that I caused that. I cleared my throat and everyone looked at me, my mum and Isabella glared at me while Maria and Laura looked away. "Um, I'll like to talk to Laura alone," I said and Maria nodded leaving first, my mum followed ignoring me then Isabella stood up to leave. "You best apologize," she said then she left the room. There was silence for over a minute after Isabella left, Laura was staring at her bandaged hand while I was trying to choose my words carefully. "I'm sorry, I couldn't do anything right," Laura said making me regret my words all over again. "I didn't mean that, I was surprised to see you out of bed and worried that you hurt yourself, I'm sorry," I apologized and her eyes met mine an action I wanted so much without realizing it. "You are worried that I got hurt? Why?" She asked confusion reflecting in her whiskey eyes. "Why do you think I was worried, Laura Davis?" I asked unable to look away from her. "Because I'm your housekeeper and if anything happens it might taint your reputation," she said and I almost smiled. "It is much more than that," I said shaking my head slightly, I could see questions written all over her face but if I entertain them I might scare her with my response. "Rest now, I'll tell Maria to bring you lunch later," I said then I left the room, it was all I could do to keep from touching her. "Did you apologize?" Isabella asked the moment I got into the sitting room. "I did and she's resting now," "Good," "Ma, I'll take you and Isabella to your new place now," I said moving closer to my mum. "No, I'm staying here, I don't know about Isabella but I'm staying here," my mum said folding her hands against her chest. "I'm staying here too," Isabella said sitting beside her, I looked at Ethan and he shrugged. "Okay then, I'll tell someone to prepare rooms for you," I said and they smiled. "I'll borrow him for a few minutes," Ethan said then he gestured towards my room. "What's wrong?" I asked when we got inside "I found him, The craniums' leader," "Great, let's go," I said moving towards the door. "Now?" "Yes now," We left the house a few minutes later and I drove to where The craniums' leader was, we were allowed to see him immediately the secretary saw who we are. "Liam Miller," he called standing up from his seat as we entered his office. "Please have your seat," he said gesturing at the seat before his table and we sat down. "How may I be of help, anybody troubling you?" He asked and I smiled inwardly knowing things would be easy from here because the craniums' leader is a fan. "Your boys hurt one of mine," I said and his eyes widened. "Goodness, how did that happen? Which one of them?" He asked still standing. I gave him information about the attack and he excused himself from the office, he came back a few minutes later with five guys. "Mr. Miller, I am so sorry, I never knew they did anything like that," he said and I sighed dramatically. "What are you going to do then? I never let people who hurt my people go scot-free," I said and he nodded. "That's true, I'll punish them this instant," He grabbed a baseball bat and he hit them continuously with the bat till they were hurt and I was satisfied. "Stop," I said and he stopped immediately breathing heavily. "Which one of you hurt her with a knife?" I asked and they pointed at the oldest looking of them all. "Great, do you have a knife?" I asked and the leader produced one reluctant, I stood up and moved close to the guy who hurt Laura with the knife, I pressed the knife to his throat, and I heard him swallow fearfully. "Nobody hurts my person," I whispered into his ear then I took the knife away from his neck returning it to the leader. "You are a gangster Sam, a respectable one, you should teach your boys the great values I believe you have, they should know better than robbing an old woman or raping a helpless lady," I said and he nodded. "He is a fan," Ethan said when we got into the car. "Yes, he is," "Glad that is solved, your secretary said to inform you that she sent you a mail about a three-day business event, you'll be having in Mexico, you'll have to leave a day after tomorrow he said and I nodded. Suddenly I had a great idea. "Why are you smiling like that and why are you turning the car?" Ethan asked looking at me suspiciously. "We are going to the mall," I simply said grinning.
