Chapter 7 They Moved Out
Brandy glared at her phone. ‘How dare Julianna speak to me like that? She was the one who brought shame to the Wilson family, and it was my efforts that saved us all from mockery.’
Her outrage grew from Julianna's audacity to fight for the family's properties. Brandy hurled objects from the table to the ground.
‘Julianna had no right! I’m the rightful member of the Wilson family. I’m even a year older than her. It didn't matter who built Wilson Enterprise. It’s my family business, and I deserve my rightful share!’
Brandy's hatred for Julianna was intense. Just as her temper flared, her phone rang—it was Sean.
Brandy recomposed herself and put on a gentle smile. “Hi, Sean…”
…
“I’m in Mozam City right now, Elvis. I’m standing in front of the apartment you mentioned, but…”
Oliver Morrison looked at an apartment building as he spoke to his older brother on the phone. It had only been partially taken apart.
Elvis was in the middle of work and asked, “What’s wrong with it?”
"It was demolished, but the deconstruction was left unfinished. Locals said it's been like this for five years. Are you sure the person you're looking for lives here? There’s no one here."
Oliver thought someone might have tricked his elder brother but dared not say it out loud. He held Elvis in high regard, so there was no way Elvis was deceived.
Elvis, however, was not surprised.
He chuckled. "Who would’ve expected this? The person made a quick escape. Keep searching because we have to find them."
"You say that, but we've been searching for years. I've followed every lead you gave me. All I've found are empty apartments or incorrect locations. How are we supposed to find them?"
Oliver lost count of the number of cities he had gone to, but they could not find that particular person. He was very discouraged.
Oliver had come to admire the person's elusiveness, not even sure if they were a man or a woman. He wondered why Elvis was so determined to find them.
Oliver collaborated with his brother's friends to get him drunk so they could extract information from him. They were all wasted, though, while Elvis was as sober as a judge. He even called his chauffeur to send all of them back home.
Oliver knew this was very important to Elvis, so he had no choice but to search for this person.
Elvis was frustrated when he remembered what happened and said, "That woman is not an ordinary person. She's essential to me. You have to find her no matter what.”
Oliver was stunned, thinking he had misheard.
He believed he heard his brother mention that the person was a woman. Then he recalled his brother's disagreement with someone about five years ago—was that the same woman?
“Fine. Do you have other leads now? I’ll investigate at once.”
Oliver was curious about the lady’s identity, which made him more motivated to find her. Elvis uttered an address. Oliver checked it with his phone and found that the address was in a small town called Shako Town.
As Oliver moved from one place to another, each location seemed more remote than the last.
He began his search based on the address Elvis had given him. This time, he ended up in a tailor's shop that had been in business for thirty years, catering to women of a certain age. The owner, a woman in her fifties, had only one son who had long since left Shako Town.
He did not have many leads to work with. That made his task of finding that elusive lady more difficult.
The few leads he had were that the person was a lady. She was also a skilled doctor. Oliver could not even find out what her name was.
The shop owner was equally perplexed after hearing Oliver's description of the woman. "I know everyone in Shako Town. But I honestly don't know who you're describing. A family left our town last week, but I can’t say if she’s the woman you want. She was a jeweler, not a doctor."
Oliver felt disheartened, thinking he had finally found a promising lead, only to find a dead end.
Running out of options, he called his brother and shared the disappointing news. After years of searching, he had not made any headway. Elvis decided to give his younger brother a break and look for another way to find her himself.
"Come back home. I'll explore other avenues to find her." Elvis's concern touched Oliver.
…
They had a fun few days after leaving Shako Town before flying to Billy City. Upon landing, Julianna received a call from her grandmother, who was thrilled about her return. Melissa had prepared dinner and eagerly invited Julianna and the kids to join her.
Julianna agreed and began to gather her things to leave. However, Nancy suddenly refused to walk any further.
“What’s wrong?”
“I need to go to the restroom, Mom!”
Nancy’s face turned red. It looked like she needed to relieve herself badly. Julianna put down her stuff at once and was about to take Nancy to the restroom.
“It’s okay, mom. You can just wait right here. I’ll be back soon.”
Nancy ran off, quickly weaving through the crowd. Julianna waited patiently while asking Herman if he needed to use the restroom. Herman yawned, held Julianna's legs, and shook his head.
