Chapter 4 Sam's POV

We drove in silence to my place. Sarah was looking out the window, staring. I could feel she had a lot on her mind. I knew she needed this time to think so I just drove. The attack earlier was still fresh in her mind for sure, and it was fresh on my mind as well. I've never been so scared in my life, to lose someone so dear to me. My wolf was still feeling uneasy, I needed Sarah to be with me, to touch her, to feel that she was fine. I've been keeping my wolf in check, taking quick looks at Sarah while driving, a reminder that she was there, right beside me. It did help to know that she was coming to stay at my place for a few days. I prayed to the moon goddess that Sarah will want to stay with me more than just a few days. And I prayed that she wouldn't reject me, now that she knew I was a wolf. So far, it wouldn't seem so, but I hoped she would not reject me as a mate because of what I was. We arrived at my place. I took her bags up, staying close to her the entire time, my wolf not wanting to get too far away from her. We ordered pizza for supper and then sat together on the bed. I wanted Sarah to be able to ask all the questions she wanted. She was staring at me with her appealing hazel eyes. I broke the silence first. "A lot of things are happening at once, is there anything you want to ask??? "Yeah, talk about it!?? she answered looking overwhelmed by events. "I?? I don't really know where to start???? She thought for a while and then continued, "I've heard a couple of times now that I'm your mate. I'm not quite sure what it means exactly. I mean, I do feel something for you, I do feel attracted to you, but mates??? Hearing that she feels attracted to me made me happy. My wolf was swollen with pride at the thought that she liked me. I explained to her, "Every wolf has a mate, a second half, someone made especially for him. The moon goddess chose you to be my mate. I was made for you, as you were made for me.?? I let a few seconds pass to let what I just said sink in. "If you accept me as your mate, then every wolf will recognize you as my mate. I will love you, and only you for my entire life.?? She smiled while listening. "Are all of your family lycanthropes??? "We live in packs, which is kind of like an enlarged family. We protect each other. A little more than half of my family is lycanthropes; the other half is human. For someone to be a wolf, one of the parents' needs to be a wolf too.?? She looked at me while thinking, "So, if we were to have kids one day, there is a chance they would be wolf like you??? "Yeah, of course, baby,?? I said grinning. "You know, you don't have to answer tonight. I don't want to put pressure on you.?? "Today, I was really scared of losing you. It made me realize how much I've fallen for you. I just want to keep you in my arms, knowing that you are safe.?? Sarah got closer to me. I wrapped my arms around her, and she rested her head on my shoulder. She looked up at me with her beautiful smile, with those luscious lips of hers. "I was really scared today. I thought I was going to die, and that I would never see you again. Luckily, one strong beautiful wolf came to save me. I'm really lucky to have you as my mate Sam.?? I was feeling full of pride at those words. I hugged her tight. "I want you to take me as your mate,?? she added. Those words surprised me. "Are you sure baby? Once it is done, it cannot be undone. You're going to be stuck with me for life.?? "Yeah, I want this. I want to wake up in your arms every morning Sam. I want to be there for you, I don't want to lose you.?? I laid her carefully on the bed and kissed her lips. Carefully, I started to caress her body, taking care of every part of her. For every piece of clothing I removed, I kissed her skin. I was taking my time, making sure that she felt absolutely loved. She moaned as I removed her bra and started to kiss and nibble her nipples. My pants were getting tight, but I wanted to make this last longer. She licked my earlobes while brushing the nape of my neck with her fingers, sending shivers down my spine. My fingers slid on her body, all the way down to her legs. She arched her back as I passed near her clit. Then she started tugging at my shirt, breathing heavily. I straightened up and helped her remove it. I stayed like that a few seconds to give her time to look at my chest, as I noticed that she seemed to like it a lot. I could see she was devouring me with her eyes. All my wolf could think of was to claim my mate. As she whined my name, I began licking her neck. Then softly, I bit her, just barely, my canines piercing the skin, where the shoulder meets the neck. "Oh yes! Sam!?? She screamed out of pleasure as she came. I couldn't hold myself anymore as I reached my peak too. Slowly I removed my teeth from her neck, licking the mark that would stay there permanently, the mark showing every wolf she was my mate. With that mark, the bonding was complete, I was hers and she was mine. We stayed in each other's arms for a while, listening to each other's heartbeat. "I love you, Sarah.?? "I love you too.?? She answered. We fell asleep in each other's arms. When I woke up, Sarah was still asleep. She looked like an angel; I couldn't believe how perfect she was. I was the luckiest guy in the world. I didn't want to wake her by getting out of the bed, so I cuddled with her and held her in my arms, just enjoying the moment. Eventually, it was time to get up, so I started to kiss her cheek. "Sarah, it's time to wake up sweetheart.?? She opened her eyes slowly, looking at me with her deep hazel eyes "Hey beauty,?? she said with a smile. "How about I make us breakfast??? I asked her. She didn't have time to answer, her stomach rumbled and answered for her. She giggled, "I guess that's a good idea.?? I prepared pancakes while she was getting dressed. It turns out she likes pancakes a lot since she greedily ate three of them. I've been thinking about what had happened and wished we would take some time off to let things cool down a little. "You know, with everything that's happened yesterday, I think we should take a day off or two of work. We need to take some time to figure out what's happening, and it would give us a four-day weekend. What do you think??? I was really hoping she would agree, I also had plans for this long weekend since she was now officially my mate. She thought about it a little. "Yeah okay, I think it's a good idea. Anyway, I could use a break after what happened yesterday???? I could see the thoughts of yesterday going back into her mind and fear creep up on her again. I didn't want her to feel those feelings once more, so I changed the subject. "A lot of stuff happened yesterday,?? I told her with a smirk. I came by her side and licked the mark on her neck. Immediately she moaned of pleasure. Then I pushed through her mind images of us last night. She had a devilish look on her face as she smiled. "Hum yeah?? Come to think of it, yesterday was great,?? she said while stepping on her toes to raise herself. She started to roam my back with her hands, letting her nails scrape along my skin while she kissed me with her tongue. I was starting to get tight again as I could smell her arousal build up. I started to massage her breast, when a knock came at the door. "Oh yeah I forgot.?? "You forgot what??? she asked gasping. I was about to reply when there was another knock at the door. Reluctantly, she separated from me. "Zach is coming this morning. We have stuff to discuss.?? I said while going to answer the door. "Took you long enough,?? Zach told me with a smirk when I opened the door. "Hi Sarah,?? he added looking at her. "Hey Zach,?? she answered while going to get a cup of coffee. Her hair was messed from our making out. It must be quite obvious what we were up to. I wished no one would see her that way other than me. As she passed in from of him, Zach took a smell of Sarah's scent and a look at her mark. He looked at me with a big smile on his face. "Congratulations man! It's finally official.?? He said to me. "Thanks man.?? I answered, "Couldn't be happier.?? Sarah went on to tidy up her hair and came back looking radiant, as always. I couldn't believe how pretty she looked. "As long as you're happy.?? Zach continued, "This is not for me. I like to taste girls, I'm in no hurry to settle down.?? I laughed a little. "As always, but you'll see one day, you'll find a girl that will tame you.?? "I guess so, but not too soon I hope.?? He added with a wink. "So, let's get down to business.?? He added while taking a seat at the table. I sat beside him, and Sarah sat close to me, her left leg and arm touching mine. "About yesterday, any clue as to who did the attack? Did you find anything??? Zach looked serious. "We couldn't find the two guys who ran away. We sent our best sniffers, but their scent just disappeared a few feet away from the parking. It's as if they knew wolves would hunt them and hid their scent somehow?? As for the guy that was lying on the floor, he passed away, so we'll never get anything from him. We took a sample of his blood. We could find out that he was human, a thug that accepted money for doing dirty work. There was nothing on him that allowed us to find who hired him.?? I hit the table with my hand. "Damn!?? I was so angry. "Whoever is behind this is taking extra precautions.?? I was getting quite annoyed by all of this. I had so many questions. Why target my love, the one I cared the most about? Sarah sat straight; I could feel she was worried. I cupped her cheek with my hand, turning her head so she was looking at me and told her, "Don't worry babe, we're going to find out whoever is doing this and stop him.?? She calmed a little, her beautiful hazel eyes looking at me "Okay, I have faith in you.?? Then she rested her head back on my shoulder while drinking her coffee slowly, savoring the taste of it. "You want to know what I think??? Asked Zach and then he continued without waiting for an answer, "I think that whoever is doing this, is doing it to piss off the next alpha and the whole pack.?? I didn't think of it this way, but he may be right, it made sense. "Yeah, now that you mention it, it could be that,?? I said. Sarah straightened herself on her chair and asked, "Alpha??? Oh yeah, I forgot I didn't even tell her about this. I answered her, "The leader of our pack is Mark, my father. He is the Alpha. He has authority over the other wolves of the pack. I'm the Beta, which means that one day, I'm going to take over my father's role and will become the new Alpha.?? Sarah's eyes opened wide and gaped, "If one day you're the Alpha, then what does that make me??? I smiled at the question, "You are my mate, you will be the Luna, the female leader of the pack.?? "But ?? but I'm not even a wolf!?? Zach and I laughed at her statement. She will make a great leader and she doesn't even know it yet, I thought. "As I told you, about half of our family is human. Being a member of the pack means backing each other, taking care of each other. It's something that you don't need to be a wolf to be able to do. You care about other people; you will make a great Luna when the time comes.?? She still had doubts in her mind, I could hear the thoughts in her head with our bond, but it seemed to calm her a little. "I have more news for you.?? Zach said, breaking the silence that had filled the room for a few seconds. I looked at him with interest. "I heard a rumor that some wolves have been seen going outside of the pack's territory, in the remnants of the ancient pack that once existed to the south. I thought maybe this could be related to the prophecy.?? "What prophecy??? asked Sarah. "There's a prophecy saying that a darkness will awaken and bring despair to the pack and our family. It is believed that this prophecy could soon come true. So, we are trying to find more information about it before this ??darkness' awakens,?? told her Zach. Sarah looked worried. "What kind of darkness??? she asks. "No one really knows.?? I answered. "Hum that's too bad,?? Sarah starts, "because you see, there is this weird dream that I've been having ever since I was a child. I often dream that I am in a forest at night, with the full moon over me, lighting the forest. Sitting on the floor, wearing a red stained dress. But then, as I'm looking at my reflection in a lake, dark fog starts coming out of the ground and out of the lake, everywhere around me, trying to grab me, to swallow me.?? I could feel the fear build up inside her and panic starts to rise. She was living the feelings of her nightmare. I put my hand on her thigh and she calmed immediately. She continued, "Then, a woman appears driving a silver chariot pulled by two winged snow white horses. Her hair is blond almost white, her name is Selene. When she arrives, the air glows with the light of her golden crown. She comes to me and drives the shadows away. She protects me with her light and says, ??Not yet my child.' And then that's it, I always wake up after that.?? I couldn't believe what she just said! I turned to Zach to see if he's thinking the same thing as me, and for sure he is, if I judge from his widened eyes and his gaped mouth. Sarah laughed and asked, "What? You two should see your faces!?? and then laughed some more. I looked at her in the eyes "Babe, what you've just described?? Selene, she's the moon goddess. That's what she looks like when she comes to the earth.?? Sarah was thoughtful for a moment. "Hum that's weird,?? she says, "I've dreamed about that for as long as I can remember. But?? I've never heard of the moon goddess before very recently.?? "Well,?? I started, "It is said that once in a thousand years, a human child is born with the powers of the goddess. This child is chosen to be the goddess's daughter.?? Sarah gaped while looking at me. "It can't possibly be me!?? she said, "I'm so weak?? I couldn't even defend myself yesterday!?? I could feel the fear and doubts she held in her heart. "Well, there's only one way to find out!?? I told her. Zach smiled and added, "It's been a long time! It will feel good, I need this.?? "What's going to feel good??? Sarah asked. I looked at her with a grin on my face. "We're going to see my parents.?? "What? Already? Why? I mean we've only dated for three days; I don't even know if they'll like me!?? "Baby calm down,?? I told her. "You are my mate; I was planning to take you to meet them. Of course, they'll love you. They're going to be thrilled to meet you! And then, there's this problem of people trying to attack you and piss off the next Alpha of the pack. We need to deal with this too. And now we also need to deal with this prophecy thing too. So, all the more reasons to go see my family!?? I was so eager to present my mate to my family! I'm so proud to show that I've finally found her. It's too bad that I also have to deal with the other problems. I wished that I could only enjoy being with my mate, present her to everyone, have a good time. But I had to deal with those other problems first. That way I'll be able to enjoy all the rest of my life with my mate. I was still feeling her being anxious, so I told her through her mind, "It's going to be okay babe, I swear to you.?? She smiled and answered out loud, "Okay, it's going to be fun.?? Everybody went off to prepare a bag and we got into my car. I was driving, Sarah was on the passenger's seat, and Zach sat behind me. We started to drive to my parent's domain. "Where do your parents live??? Sarah asked me. "They live in a domain, on the edge of a mountain, a few hours away from here. You'll love it!?? I told her. I took her hand while driving and gave a sweet kiss on top of it, leaving my lips a little longer, and smelling her sweet smell of peaches. Zach and I were talking about our parents' house and about when we were little. In the passenger seat, Sarah fell asleep. Truly, she looked like an angel. I was the luckiest wolf in the world.
