Chapter 3 Sarah's POV

Sunbeams were coming between the curtains. I woke up and realized I was curled up in Sam's arms. I smiled at that though. I could feel his warmth breath on my neck. His unique scent was strong, and it smelled so good. I was feeling safe and peaceful. My heart was beating fast for him. I couldn't believe how nice and affectionate he was with me. What did I do to get a guy like him? I smiled as I remembered how cute it was when he called me "babe?? yesterday. My hands started to roam his body slowly without me even thinking about it. A soft smile appeared on Sam's lips as he opened his eyes. "Hey babe. Slept well??? I smiled back, "Your arms are the best place to sleep in.?? He seemed pleased by my answer and laughed a little. He put his hand in my hair and gently played with loose strands. I brought my mouth closer to his and kissed him, biting his lower lip. His fingers slid on my skin, making goosebumps rise wherever they went. A small moan escaped my lips. Sam seemed happy with my reaction, his beautiful deep green eyes looking at me. "You are so perfect,?? he told me, "I want to wake up by your side every morning.?? I was taken aback by his compliment. I never thought of myself being especially beautiful or perfect, but in his arms, I felt like I was the most beautiful and precious woman in the world. Instead of answering, I nibbled his earlobe. A kind of low growl, barely edible, seemed to emanate from his chest, like a purr of pleasure. I could feel the heat rising from our bodies. We continued kissing as our bodies intertwined. I removed his shirt, revealing his muscles underneath. I gaped at what I saw; he was so perfect! "Like what you see??? Sam asked with a smirk on his face. "Like? I love what I see! It makes me crave more.?? He had a devilish smile as he cupped my face in his hand and answered, "Then I'm all yours,?? before returning to kissing me. Sam removed my shirt and started to outline my breast with his tongue, making my nipples go hard. He took his sweet time with each of them as I moaned under him. "Sam,?? I pleaded while he continued. I could feel his arousal in his boxers, and I wanted him right now. "Soon baby, patience,?? he answered as he proceeded to remove my shorts. I arched my back at the touch of his fingers gliding on the inside of my legs. I was panting as his thumb was rolling circles on my clit. I was dripping already and couldn't hold a scream when he inserted a finger into me. I started to thrust my hips at his finger; my body wanted more. Satisfied with where I was at, he removed his finger, got back up a little and removed his boxers, revealing his enlarged member. Looking at me with desire in the eyes, he finally penetrated me. The pleasure hit me instantly and with every thrust, came a new wave of pleasure. I couldn't stop myself from screaming and calling his name. I felt his teeth brush against my neck, near the base of my shoulder, but then he backed away. My nails dug into his back and I screamed as I peaked. "Hummm Sarah,?? he screamed too, and soon after I felt his seeds fill my belly. We stayed like that for a moment, breathless, just resting together. Listening to his heartbeat, I wished this moment could last forever. We both got up and took a quick shower, ate breakfast and prepared to go to work. A few minutes after, we arrived at work. Sam gave me a quick kiss on the lips as he went into his office and me to my workstation. I was still feeling uneasy after what happened yesterday. I was wondering if I would find another bloody package on my desk, but there wasn't. An hour later, I had a meeting with Sam and Zach. They were both already there when I got to the meeting room. "Hey Sarah,?? said Zach with a big smile on his face. "Hey!?? I answered to both. "So, this meeting will be brief,?? started Sam. "We talked about what happened yesterday.?? At those words, I remembered everything that has happened with the note and the package on my desk. A knot formed in my stomach and I was feeling anxious. Sam looked at me and suddenly I calmed down. It seemed that his eyes had somehow the power to calm me down. Sam wouldn't let anything happen to me; I was sure of it. I felt protected. He continued talking, "After that incident, we feel someone should look up after you for a while. Until we find out who sent that package to you. So, for now on, Zach will be working in the marketing department, and stay with you at all time.?? My eyes widened. "But isn't Zach in the sales department??? "Yes, he is,?? Sam answered, "But he is my cousin, he is one of the people I trust the most. We'll just tell everyone that the new game development needs someone both from marketing and sales and that you two will work together from now on.?? I liked the idea of having someone to protect me. Although I wished it was Sam more than Zach. I mean, Zach was a good guy, but I didn't know him. And with what happened between Sam and me, I would take more time close to him. "It would be nice if you could keep an eye on me,?? I told Sam with a wink. Sam sighed and put his hands around my hips. "I would love to be the one who keeps you safe Sarah, but right now unfortunately, I have some things that I need to take care of and can't take that role just yet. Zach is trustworthy, I know I can count on him. I swear that when I'm done with my other tasks, I'll take his place by your side.?? He quickly added. I felt it in my heart that he was telling the truth, that he really wished he could protect me himself instead of asking Zach to do it. He seemed to trust Zach a lot, so I was going to trust him too. I nodded to them. Zach smiled at me and added, "I'll get my things and bring them by the desk beside yours today. That way I'll be able to keep an eye on you. Just come to me if anything suspicious happens.?? Sam gave him a look, then Zach added with a small laugh, "And don't forget to say it to Sam too or I'll hear about it.?? Sam laughed at his answer. "Well, then I'm sure that with both of you by my side, I'll be safe.?? I was sincerely grateful for the way they wanted to protect me. I did feel safer that way. We all went back to our workstations. While going back, I came across Marissa in the hall. She gave me a cold stare that made the hair rise in the back of my neck. I had the feeling she didn't like me but couldn't put my finger on to why she didn't. I hoped that it wasn't related to my work. I was wondering if I should say something to Zach or Sam about her but?? Nan it's probably just my imagination. I brushed it on the side and went on with my day. A few hours later, Zach moved his stuff to the desk beside mine. Everybody was fine with the idea that we were collaborating on the new game development. A few hours later, near then end of the day, I received a text from Sam. "Hey babe, do you want to come at my place tonight again??? Although the idea seemed like a good one, I wanted to go back at my place tonight. I wanted to get some clean clothes and be alone with myself a little. So much stuff happened in the last few days, I needed to sort my thoughts. So, I responded, "Sorry honey but I think I should go to my apartment tonight.?? A few seconds later came a response "You know, with everything happening right now, I would feel safer if you were with me?? Plus, I kinda miss you already.?? This last sentence made me smile, how sweet. He was right, I would be safer with him rather than alone. But I'm not five years old, I can take care of myself, right? I mean it's not like I really knew how to fight. But there's nothing at my apartment threatening me. Even if I felt frightened, I wanted to get home tonight. I will see him tomorrow anyways, I thought to myself. I wrote to him, "Well I want to get stuff at my apartment, and get my head together on everything that's happening, so I think I'll get home instead for tonight. I'll think about you for sure, we can see each other tomorrow.?? This time a few minutes passed before I received a reply, and I was getting a little worried if he was going to respond or not. "Okay baby, then let me walk with you to the subway before you leave at the end of your day. I want to kiss you goodnight.?? I couldn't hold a smile at that thought. "Of course, I wouldn't miss that for anything! I'll get by your office when I'm about to leave.?? And then I went on to do the rest of my work for the day, my thoughts still lingering on Sam. Five o'clock was coming by and my work was done. Zach was away from his desk; a meeting he told me earlier. It wouldn't be long, he said, but he still wasn't back. I guess I should just go get Sam then. I left Zach a note on his desk saying that I was going home. Then I picked up my stuff and went to Sam's office. But to my surprise, he wasn't there. I turned to someone who was working nearby, asking if he knew where he was, but he didn't. Well, I guess I'll be walking alone to the subway then. I went down the elevator and got to the interior parking lot. Surprisingly, there was not a lot of people by, even though it was not long after five. As I neared the end of the parking lot, I was alone. I was walking and I could hear my footsteps resonating around me. I was beginning to feel a little uneasy, the hair behind the back of my neck rising. I picked up the pace a little but suddenly, a man came out of nowhere in front of me. He had a knife in his hand and had a devilish smile on his face. "Hey there pretty,?? he said, "I'm going to enjoy this.?? I tried to turn around to run away but saw that two men were already closing in on behind me. Panic was starting to fill me, and my heartbeat had increased a lot. All of a sudden, I thought back to yesterday's note, "You're next.?? Was this related? I knew how to fight a little, but three against me. I'm not going to win! Why couldn't Sam be at his office when I left? This wouldn't have happened if he had been there. The men started to close in on me. Before I had a chance to run away, one of the men behind me grabbed my arms. I tried to break free from his grasp, but he just held me tighter. I turned to the man in front of me to see him laugh and advance with the knife at me. He got closer to me, licking his lips. He grabbed my chin with his hand and said, "Well, I'm supposed to kill you, but it doesn't mean we can't have some fun before, doesn't it??? I felt like vomiting at the thought of being close to this guy. "That's never going to happen,?? I told him with a defiant look. "You bitch!?? He answered as he hit me in the face strong enough for my head to turn to the left. When I looked back up to him, I could see the fury in his eyes. "That's it,?? I thought. "This is how it's going to end; he's going to kill me.?? Holding up the tears that wanted to roll down from my eyes, I thought about Sam. How I wish that I could see him at least one last time! "Sam, if only you were there to save me!?? I thought. And then, all the sudden, I heard Sam speak to me in my head; "Hold on, I'm coming.?? Was I going crazy? A few seconds after, a big black wolf came running, growling angrily. He jumped on the man in front of me and bit him on the neck, making him drop the knife on the floor. Then I heard footsteps behind me. The man behind me let go of my arms. As soon as I got free, I turned around and saw Zach, fighting on the guys that were behind me. I got a few feet away, to get out of the fight and just watched, too scared to do anything. The black wolf was biting and scratching the first man so hard, there was blood everywhere on the floor. Finally, the man collapsed on the floor and the wolf turned to help Zach. When the two men saw the wolf approach, they decided to run away. At first, I thought maybe the wolf would go running after them, but he didn't. He turned to look at me and started to walk my way. That was the most imposing wolf I had ever seen. I was scared, seeing what it did to the man that attacked me. But there was something about this wolf's eyes that made me relax. Those green eyes looked so much like Sam's. And then I heard in my head "Don't be scared Sarah. It's me.?? How could it be? I couldn't believe it, and yet, for the second time I've heard Sam speak to me in my head. And now I swear that this wolf was speaking through my mind and telling me that he was Sam. Not really knowing if I was going crazy or not, I looked at Zach with incredulous eyes. "Is it possible??? I asked, "Can it be Sam??? Zach smiled at me "So you do hear him,?? he answered. "It is true then; you truly are his mate.?? I didn't really know what to answer to that. "Mate? What do you mean??? The wolf came to me and laid at my feet, resting his head on my lap. I gently pet the wolf on the head, its fur was so soft. The wolf closed his eyes at the touch. Zach continued, "Sam and I, and a lot of people working here are lycanthropes. Which means we can sometime transform into wolves. We've been living amongst humans for quite a long time, hiding our identity. Every wolf has a mate, his other half. We do not choose our mate, it's the moon goddess who blesses us with a mate. When a wolf finds its mate, a bond forms between the two of them and as the bond becomes stronger, they develop the ability to talk to each other through their minds and even sometimes read their thoughts.?? I couldn't believe what I was hearing. So, it was true! I truly did hear him talk to me through my mind. I wasn't going crazy, which is kind of a relief. "How do you become wolves??? I asked, "How long do you stay a wolf? Is it with the full moon or something??? Zach laughed at my question. "No, that's just stories told in the movies. We can turn into a wolf whenever we want to. But sometimes, when our emotions are too strong, then we can't control the wolf and it comes out by itself. That's what happened to Sam when we were in a meeting. He heard you say that you were going to die and that you wished he were there to save you. He went wild and changed into a wolf, coming to save you immediately.?? Zach stopped and threw a bag of clothes beside me. When I looked, Sam was sitting on the floor in a human form, naked. I blushed at this sight and turned my head. He took the bag and began to dress himself up. "It's not really practical when we change into a wolf because of our emotions,?? Sam started. "You don't have time to think about it and get undressed and then your clothes get ripped up by the change. Plus, we usually try to change when no one is looking, to hide ourselves from humans, not to scare them. Fortunately, only wolves were present in the meeting when I changed.?? "That's why we always keep a change of clean clothes with us at all times.?? Added Zach with a grin on his face. "But it usually doesn't happen that often.?? He added with a wink. "I'm sure you have a lot more questions that you want to ask.?? Zach continued, "And I'm sure Sam would be more than happy to answer them for you. So, I'll leave you two alone and see you tomorrow.?? He turned around without waiting for an answer, waving goodbye and leaving me alone with Sam. As soon as Zach was gone, two strong arms encircled me. Sam was fully dressed now. "I was so scared. I thought I lost you.?? He rested his head on my shoulder and gave me a kiss on the neck, letting his lips stay there a few seconds. I could feel his heart beating strong in his chest. I felt truly loved in his arms. I had so many questions, I didn't know where to start. He broke the silence first. "Were you scared of me??? I thought back at my first reaction when I saw that big wolf coming out of nowhere. "A little,?? I admitted, "but you were there to save me, so not too much?? Your wolf ?? would it ever hurt me??? "Never! I would never hurt you even in my wolf form. You're my mate Sarah, I will protect you with all of my strength, for as long as I breathe.?? That word again: mate. I wasn't quite sure what it meant exactly. I knew for sure I was feeling something for Sam, and I knew strange things were happening like me being able to hear him talk through my mind for instance. "Yeah, Zach said that too, that I'm your mate. I'm not sure I understand exactly what it means yet?? But I know one thing for sure: I heard you speak to me in my mind. Zach said that it's because we're mates.?? Sam looked me in the eyes and spoke to me in my mind. "Only mates can speak to each other through their minds. As the bond between mates gets stronger, it becomes easier. You can even feel what the other one is feeling. When you were attacked, I was in a meeting, I felt your fear and I heard you call me.?? Being able to hear him in my head was weird but it was nice too. "How do I do it??? I asked out loud. "Just think about me, concentrate on me, and just think about what you want to tell me, and I'll hear you for sure.?? So, I thought about Sam, I looked at him, letting my senses take over me. Suddenly, my mind shifted. I felt like I was there, in his mind, with him, feeling what he was feeling. I just said in my mind, "How about we go home? I just want to go rest with you.?? He smiled and answered in my mind. "That sounds like a good idea babe.?? I smiled too and answered out loud, "But I would like to go get some stuff at my place first.?? "Yeah, no problem baby,?? he said out loud too. "You should probably get a lot of stuff, it would probably be safer if you stayed with me for a while.?? He was right, and I liked the idea of staying with him for a while anyway. We walked to his car. Sam kept his arm around my waist all the time. We drove to my apartment. Sam came with me to check there was no threat. I gathered lots of clothes and a few personal things I would need for the next few days. It was kind of weird to leave my apartment like that. After moving there only a few days ago. It was for the best, and I knew I would be fine at Sam's apartment. I didn't want to be alone after what happened. In the meantime, it also meant that I could sleep in his arms, which sounded awesome. "Okay honey, I think I have everything I need.?? I told him, "Let's go to your place.?? He grabbed me by my waist, looked at me with his beautiful green eyes. "Yeah, let's go home.??
