CHAPTER ONE HUNDRED AND EIGHTY SEVEN – THE VESSEL
As the meeting concluded, Logan made his way to find Laura. He found her in their quarters, looking out the window with a distant expression.
"Laura," he said softly, wrapping his arms around her. "How are you feeling?"
She leaned into him, sighing. "Honestly? Overwhelmed. Everyone's treating me differently now. It's like I'm not just Laura anymore – I'm the vessel for the alpha's miracle child."
Logan kissed the top of her head. "I know it's a lot to take in. But I promise, we'll get through this together." He paused, steeling himself for what he knew would be a difficult conversation. "Laura, we need to talk about your safety."
Laura tensed in his arms. "What do you mean?"
"I've assigned a personal guard to you," Logan explained. "They'll be with you at all times when I can't be. And... I need you to stay within the inner compound for now. It's too dangerous for you to be near the perimeter."
