Laura nodded, her thoughts a jumbled mess. "How do I tell him? What if he's not happy about it?"
"Logan is a good man, Laura. He will understand the significance of this. But be prepared - this news will spread quickly once it's known. There may be those who wish to harm you or the child."
Laura stood, her legs shaky. "Thank you, Mabel. I... I need some time to process this."
As she left Mabel's cabin, Laura's mind whirled with possibilities and fears. She wandered the compound, lost in thought, until the sun began to set. Knowing she couldn't delay any longer, she made her way to Logan's quarters.
