Throughout the meal, Tyler kept putting food into Lucian's bowl—vegetables and ribs, one after another, piling up in the boy's small bowl. Lucian ate happily, the ribs bringing a bright smile to his face.
The meal lasted for nearly an hour. By the end, Lucian was already full, and the maid began tidying up the dishes on the table.
On any other day, Tyler would have stayed in the ward, keeping his son company and letting him digest his dinner before bedtime and tucking him in for the night. But today, something was different; Tyler seemed to have other plans.
As he checked his watch, Tyler spoke, "Mary is here. Why don't you ask her to read a storybook with you, okay?"
Lucian nodded eagerly, his cheerful mood making him easy to convince. "Okay, Daddy!" he replied with enthusiasm.
Hearing that, Tyler reached out, ruffling Lucian's hair affectionately. "Good boy," he said softly. He then glanced toward Mary, who immediately moved closer to Lucian, taking a seat beside him.
