Chapter 157: Bound by the Storm
Caitlin lifted her emerald gaze, locking eyes with Zendedari’s intense, unwavering black stare. The rain hammered down around them, yet the heat radiating from his body enveloped her, making the storm seem distant. His fingertips traced the delicate curve of her cheek, brushed across her lips, and the contact sent an electric jolt through her. His need for her was primal, raw, and as unstoppable as the tempest that raged around them.
It burned within him, an all-consuming force like the crackle of lightning or the slow, inevitable flow of molten lava. “Need me, Caitlin,” he pleaded, his voice thick with emotion. “Need me like I need you. I would give my life for you. Live for me. Find a way to live for me. Love me that much.”
Caitlin’s lashes fluttered downward, raindrops clinging to them like delicate jewels. She took a breath, her heart heavy with the weight of his words. “You don’t know what you’re asking of me,” she whispered, her voice barely audible over the roar of the storm.
