“What are you doing?” I looked back to find the overseer standing beneath the rock I sat on.
“Nothing,” I said.
“You’re bound to be doing something, Mikhail. You have been absent for the past three days, and I am worried, to say the least.”
“Why?” I shot at him.
“Maybe because I see my sister in you.”
“I’m not a girl, so don’t call me that. You can call me Constantine.” He climbed the rock and sat beside me. “So, what are you doing?”
“Nothing,” I said.
“Oh, and so nothing is simply staring at the waterfall, frozen even though it is. But it’s not nothing.”
“Why are you doing this to me?” I asked him.
“What am I doing to you?”
“I shook my head. Why do I feel like you’re watching every time? You know me, at least I think you do because I think you watch me. Why is it so important that I do anything? You’re even trying to encourage me to take Anastasia as my mate.”
