Nothing had ever made me more unsettled since Desiree had appeared in my life. Every control rod in my head seemed to slowly fall, and I heard them rattle as they hit the floor. I was losing it because of her.
I tightened my grip around the steering wheel and accelerated the speed at which the vehicle was going. The paper was crumbled up in my other hand and every single time I looked at it, unease washed over me like a rain. Something didn't feel right, and while I was aware that my senses could be ticking off due to our bond, I still wanted to get the end of it.
Jamming the engine off, I parked my car by the edge of the road and alighted. My hands slid into my pocket, and I ventured into the woods. It was filled with the sound of crickets and twigs snapping beneath my feet. The moon shone brightly, encompassing the thick, spaceless greenery with a show of light, as definite as they come.
